was the Shield Around a M2 or Other MG or Grenade Launcher? If it was It's similar to the ACAV shields Used During Vietnam.

when we deploy we were told we can make up a wish list of goodies we can put on our vehicles, that was probably someones wish list item and they could've made it themselves or ordered the actual shield from of of a 113 for example? We have a few tracks around here with those on them and our wheeled vehicles are getting machinegun rings.

There is a factory shield kit on armored Hummers here in Iraq. I see them mostly on MP vehicles but I have seen them with assorted other units as well. It doesn't amount to much more than a flat piece of steel that is angled back toward the gunner to deflect rounds up away from the firer. It has a cut-out to accomodate elevation and depression of the weapon. The shield assembly is compatible with .50 cal, M240, M60 (yes they are still in use as well) M249 and MK. 19 weapon systems. I have seen all of them mounted in conjuction with this shield system. I wish I had the ability to post a picture. One thing to note as well is there is a deflection kit mounted at the bottom of the hatchback on some of the armored Hummers. This deflection kit eliminates rounds richochetting off of the hatchback and impacting the firer of the mounted weapons. There are also armored Hummers here with the Vietnam ACAV style shield (front shield only)mounted on them. This is the same shield that was mounted on the commander cupola of M113's in Nam and and are still used on M113's and M88 ARV's now. As a matter of fact, I have taken pictures here of an M113 that has the ACAV gun mounts that were used in Vietnam. It has a fully armored (no top) gun shield on the TC's cupola and the individual light MG mounts on each side of the top rear hatch. I was surprised to see this since I thought they stopped using the ACAV package after Vietnam.

Nice site! I like the new Humvee interior shot. It's under the menu item of Roque Zero, the 7th picture. Anyone going to model that?
