This is a picture of the M998 before I weathered it. I used Tamiya's NATO Green and Sand. The tyres were weathered with Tamiya's weathering kit (light sand). The chassis was painted NATO Black:
Here is the Humvee after it was weathered by means of dry brushing and a light spray of Humbrol Desert Yellow:

looks good so far. Keep going! I have the same kit, but in the Italeri variant, it's on the bench right now, just need to get to unboxing and get to building!

Thanks andromeda673. I am patiently waiting for that Italeri kit to arrive here. The Italeri M998 builds way easier than the Academy series. Will try get some work done on the crew and gear this weekend.
Hey Keigan good work so far, I have the academy m998 and using it for a marines in Iraq Dio. One small point is the Alice backs and bigger duffel bags you have would be straight olive drab and not the woodland camo.

Thanks for taking a look Alex. The packs on the roof are MOLLE backpacks. They're supposed to be woodland camo (for the time period). I think you're referring to ALICE packs - which are straight olive drab (some medium rucks did come out in woodland camo too). Good luck with your M998. You sure need a lot of patience with the Academy kit.
