I understand that the Scorpion had some issues with fumes from firing the main gun. Can you share some of your first hand experience regarding this?

Jeff, it wasn't a 76mm gun problem but mainly that of the co-ax MG and resulting in a poisonous mix of carbon monoxide, fuel and oil vapors and cordite fumes. The fumes building up in the drivers compartment was a major issue but could have been fixed had the effort been put forth.
The decision was made to not spend money on irradicating that problem as the limited nature of ammunition available for the Scorpion and the role going forward that the MoD envisioned for the vehicle was coming to an end.
They thought it would be cheaper to mate Fox turrets with the Scorpion hulls and create the short lived hybrid Sabre in keeping with the 30mm RARDEN and newly issued APDS round and co-ax L94A1 chain gun.

I've been watching your work with the your Scorpion....
I'm with the same kit....and I need help...
First, I ask me if you have used the Jaguar early Scorpion hull..I need this type of hull to my model...If you haven't used this..I ask me if you could sell me it ....
Seocond..I see you've have used the Castoff hull, with the flotation screen...It seems to be a nice kit...but..what's your opinión...whih one is better....Castoff or Jaguar...
I also need one Scorpion hull with the flotation screen to make an Iranian army versión ...
and..very good work...i like your work on the stowage parts..

Interested to hear that, the media reports I've seen always blame the main gun. Thought that an easy fix for that would have been to fit a Bore Evacuator, and couldn't figure out why it wasn't done. A blower for the driver seems the simple fix for the fumes problem, but I guess 'No Will, no way' applies?

I don't think the Jaguar conversion is available now but I did have it (gave it away) and also a Cromwell set, both were 99% identical to each other. I chose the Castoff version with screen because it was more accurate and in accordance with the vehicles in use on the exercise I chose to represent and was part of, although my mount was one of the relatively new Scimitars..

In respect to the gun a 'fume extractor' would not have been effective on such a short barrel and would have resulted in an entirely different replacement being designed and manufactured. A quicker fix would have been a swap out for the low pressure 90mm gun that was already in production and fitted to the turret.
but again, the powers that be were determined to lose the Scorpion CVT(T) in order to save money and time.

The completed model was presented yesterday as part of an AMPS regional show and it did place. I chose to enter it in the 'Vignette' category so the setting and figures could also be part of the judging process. I did notice (from afar) some LED flashlight beams and pointers being waved around along with some muttering and lots hand waving and head nodding. One never knows what the comments being made are, good, bad or somewhere in between but they did hover around it for what seemed to me to be an eternity!
In the end, I did place and the results can be seen below.
Also a Gold medal for my build quality, not bad for a 67 year old duffer eh
If it (this build) helps anyone with their projects (CVR(T)'s) then that is the icing on the cake, thank's for following this very long journey.

Congrats on the win, having re-read this thread, it makes me want to do another Scimitar or Scorpion
