Hi Ben,
I have this kit at home, and I am keeping it mainly for sentimental reasons. I am sure there is a lot that can be done with it to bring it up to great standards, but the kind of money this seller is asking for seems rather outrageous (especially the shipping cost).
My spontaneous answer would be that this is too high a price for the kit, but it of course depends on how desperately you want it.
Just as a side note, and please do not take this as criticism, rather as friendly advise:
If you could use some punctuation in your message/post, it would be so much easier to read. I had to read it 3-4 times before I could piece the sentences together. It would be a shame if people did not answer just because the post is difficult to comprehend.
Cheers,
Sven

Hi all! Just want to hear if anyone has any thoughts in relation to the following:
I am after another early Tamiya M1. I am aware of the shortfalls, I do want to have a go at fixing a few things.
My problem is the whole kit shipped to my door is going to set me back around $72-$80. I think this is very high, the shipping alone is $45.
I do want to get one, but it's probably my bad luck the way all these random new kits have been coming out, one will be released after ive paid so much for an old kit.
I would like to hear anyone else's thoughts. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your advice Sven. I was busy looking after my kids and did not have the chance to re-read my post before "hitting enter"

I recently bought this kit off of ebay and paid about $25 shipped... There's usually several to choose from. If you can cancel from that seller and purchase a different one I'm sure you'll find some savings.
It's a decent kit if you want an early M1. I'm planning on doing the Canadian Army Trophy "Bill the Cat" tank. I think it's easier to add a few details to this kit rather than all the hacking it takes to backdate an A1.
Of course if you want to update instead of backdate, there's plenty of good options for an A1 or A2...

I Think I will sit on my hands and wait maybe a Cheaper one will pop up.
The shipping To Australia is quite high since I have seen other ones go for $20.00 Shipping,
I do like this kit I guess its the Nostalgic side of it that appeals as well.
Cheers Ben.

That shipping charge was probably for Priority Mail which includes tracking. It is outragious but probably correct and if through e-bay, the only way some people will ship to foreign countries from the U.S. They are not protected from e-bay claims unless they have a tracking #. Your best bet is to try and get one from the model sites buy and trade forums.

I posted a question thread about options for detailing it, so you can check there.
As for the value, I picked one up less than 6 months ago for about $30 shipped. I would save a search on eBay and also post in the Buy Sell forum. You should be able to find one for less if you can wait a little.

No worries, Ben, I know exactly what you mean - often in that exact same situation here at home :-)
Good luck with your purchase, hope you find one at a reasonable price.
Cheers,
Sven

won't quite work. Main differences being main gun caliber, turret length, track type and NBC system.
