I saw this device in this thread. I'm hoping to scratch one for one of the Humvees I'm in the process of building.

Couple questions.

Is the ring a protective device or does it serve other purposes?

Does anyone have the correct diameter of the ring?

Some pictures show two outrigger devices on triangular supports to the side of the mast. Are these on all the antennas? What is their function?

As mentioned in the other thread, the ring is not always present in the pics. I guess several variants can be found.... :
