Hi Charles - great work! You really made something special!

The concrete awnining is a nice touch - and the rods hanging it from the wall look "right" too - not too skinny or thick - also - the various wires - that looks just like the real deal - adds a level of authenticity! - I know, you've had them there for a while, but they really add something to the whole scene

Cheers
Nick

My appreciation to you Nick. Must say you are a big inspiration to me. Your work is just astounding! I hope to one day reach your level or dream of getting there.

Have to join the other gentlemen in their praise!!

Some of the photos are just so realistic!! The car is ideal IMHO. The only weak point I see right away is the pose of the crouching figure! This AK pointing right into the dirt....I don't like it period!

Have you experienced problems with painting the jeans?? ) I find it exceedingly difficult to get it right, both in colour and in fading!! Strange, but true!

I'd rather do ten figs in SS camo smocks than one guy in jeans!

Great show!! Big kudos from my side!!!!!

Cheers

Romain

Thank you Marcos. Will finish up on painting the last figure and a little weathering and it will be done. Thanks for the support.

Yeah. I know. Still working on this. Had to remove the Merc due to some blemishes. At the end I had to throw the darn thing away. I will probably get another vehicle. If anyone know of a 1/35 scale Datsun or other cheap vehicle, typical of this region please point me to it.

I have removed and added and moved figures and accessories around like crazy. Never seem to get it right or the way I want it to look.

I decided to give the US troops another go. Here are two that might just work. Again, I am still trying my best here. I am working on the third figure.

It is looking good. Too bad on the Mercedes. Could you have used it as a burned out vehicle?

If not, there is always the Meng Toyota truck. If that won't work, there are a few 1/32 snap-tites that will work fine in it. Look for Monogram, Revell, or AMT 1/32 pickup trucks on Ebay as they are all OOP. They come up often though. A few here at this time.

I used a couple to make an SF Toyota Crew cab a while ago.

The only other change I would do is on the US Soldiers. The tan vests don't look right. Only the USMC wore/wears Cayote Brown vests and they are a different, darker tan/brown color. Additionally, the USMC has mainly worn digital MARPAT uniforms since the beginning of OIF in '03.

The 3-color DCU was mainly worn by US Army Soldiers. The Army does not use the brown vests though. Most Soldiers had Woodland BDU pattern camo vests until about '04 when 3-color DCU vests were issued. Some still had the Woodland vests until later tan that. In '06, the digital ACU w/matching vest was worn.

I would repaint the vests Woodland BDU pattern and you would be good for an early OIF dio.

Hi Charles,

not a bad idea these US soldiers!

From what I can see the painting on those is quite convincing as well!!

COngrats so far......and I'm curious to see the "next" version!

Cheers

I think you nailed the placement of the figs. They all have a nice sense of"operational awareness". The groundwork and building are super.

Thanks for the response guys. Gino. Thanks for the links and info concerning the appropriate camo. Much appreciated. I was planning on doing the BDU vest version on the third figure. Btw, i really do not want to touch the already done figures. I seem to remember some still wore them in some pics awhile back i saw on the net. Of course this was back in the time frame you mentioned. But i will definitely add the updated to any figure i tend to do in the near future. Thanks again.

Added the third figure. I decided I will add a third figure. A radio communication officer. I add him later on. Everything is taking time as I have not gotten so much time. I still have yet to add a vehicle to the dio. It will be added, when I have the time to build it.

Looks great Charles.
Going back to my days doing display work we were taught that the eye for some reason focuses on odd numbers of objects more than others .
Any idea on the vehicle?
After that I would leave it alone. It will be perfect.

So you think I should not add a vehicle? I was thinking of another Merc or another available car that is common in that region. Do you know of any that is available in 1/35 beside diopark's Merc?
