Looking great Marcos,
Keep in mind the leaves will be blown by the Cayouse rotors,
Maybe very hard to show on the tree it's attached to,but the palm leaves you may be able to twist a bit.Just a thought.

Starting to work on the jungle vegetation. Another test fit. I think this will be the final setting of the figures.

Hi Marcos,

figures are great, composition as well!

What I would suggest is ...MORE vegetation (also on the edge).

Cheers

Romain, I agree. I am just starting with the vegetation. There is more and different comming. It is just a slow process making sure everything is in the right place. It is hard to make something planned look random and natural. Thanks

I would definitely use more canteens on the figures. It is rare to see a US infantryman/Marine with less than 2 on his belt, and they usually carried several more attached or inside of their backpacks.

The new foliage looks very good. This is turning out great.
I think a challenge to put out there to any future modeler that wants to tackle this type of scene would be to make the foliage look like it is being"flattened out" by the severe prop wash of the helo right overhead.
If you have ever been underneath one of those things you'll know what I mean. Hooking up a sling load attachment under a Chinook for example. Good times!! Hehehe

This is my attempt to create a bit the sensation of prop wash.

I figured the most noticeable effect of the prop wash would be on the thin Bamboo like bushes. Plus it would be a pass overhead and not the helo hovering static which would certainly accentuate the effect more. To acheive the first I will place the helo at an angle indicating a turning pass. Anyways, at least that is the plan.

Good thinking about the helo Marcos!! And you are absolutely right that some plants would react more than others!!

Great show so far!!!

Oh yes, try to avoid taking pics with the flash.

Cheers

Almost done with the vegetation. What do you think. I am going to do a little water effect at the forefront. And that should do it. Has anybody used the Vallejo water effect?

I have never used the water effect myself but all of the Vallejo stuff seems to be pretty good. I am sure you will figure out how to get a great effect as you obviously have the talent buddy!
Several of us on this site have discussed the merits of natural versus paper vegetation and we all have our opinions but I think your use of a combination of paper and natural products really does the job. The effect is very natural and realistic imho,

Some final pictures of the figures before going on the dio.

And the spent magazine and cartridges that go next to the firing soldier

Problem with the water effect! It cracked while drying overnight.

This is the product I used. I followed the instructions and it cracked. hopefully with another thin layer it won´t be so noticeable.

That’s a pity!
Maybe the layer was (still) too thick or the foundation wasn’t completely stabile? No dount you will fix this (thin layers). This will be a very attractive dio!

best regards

Working on the water. Also advancing on the helo. Here are some pictures to show the final setting of the figures. I removed the palm tree for the pictures:

Marco,
Everything looks fantastic, although I think your spent cartridges are a bit too long. Those look to be almost as long as the width of the mag. Should be closer to 2/3 the width of the mag if memory serves (so long since I've handled an M16).

Keep it up! I'm a huge fan of your ficas fronds!

Mark
