A few older Italeri kits are being re-released as part of the 70th anniversary of D-Day, to include the LCM.

Nice, gotta get it this time now as my Airfix LCM STILL sits on the shelf... waiting.

Need a Sherman to go with it too.

Nice to see all these. If I'm not wrong, the figures at the LCM are from Dragon.

Molds sold on to Bilek, available w/o red cross decals as a signals truck, but they are re-releasing the command truck?

It's good to see some of these available again, though I'm disappointed that Italeri can't release more kits with new tooling and not just capitalize on the D-Day publicity.

Yes, a bit of disapointment with the 70th ann. releases from Italeri. But on the other hand, it's nice to see them available again. The water truck builds up nice except for the door fit, just like the ambulance. Truck in the stash and ambulance waiting for a base. There are plans available to change the water truck into a fuel truck but lost them in the devorce move years ago. Would like to find them again as I'd like to do a cactus airforce senerio with an Enterprize wildcat.

I'm always worried about picking up older kits like these, no matter how cool the subject matter... given the the age of the molds. Anyone have any feedback on the quality of these kits?

What I suspected. OTOH, where else can you get a Higgins Boat in 1/35th?

i personally am looking forward to the re-release of the tanker truck, with all the large scale planes i have in my stash it`s only a small amount of scratchbuilding away from a USAAF refueling truck.

Tamiya are releasing a 1/48th tanker (32579 US 2 1/2 ton 6x6 Airfield Fuel Truck)
& HobbyBoss a 1/35 US CCKW 750 gallon Tanker (83826), not an aircraft refueler, but HB have a good track record of releasing variants.

Just glad they are releasing the LCM again. The market is heavy with Trumpeter kits which are not right in some specs. The D day release LCM is on the British Ebay already. It comes with 6 figures too.

The cynic in me suggests thata real commemoration would be to reléase one or two new-toolings rather than re-popping their somewhat 'historical' back catalogue....

Yes, a nice new LCA would have done the job or an LCA and LCV.

Having seen these soldiers, they look quite relaxed. With head from Hornet, one could bring in some tension, I guess.
The sea sick: http://www.hornetandwolf.com/Hornet/HEADSETS/PAGES/HH09.htm
The scared ones: http://www.hornetandwolf.com/Hornet/HEADSETS/PAGES/hh30.htm

Probably, these relaxed ones are about to storm the beach in a UK excerise!

It is only a pitty that one has to buy the LCM as well. It would have been a sign of some commercial understanding if the complete crew would have been available seperately as well. For all those who already had the old one or the Trumpeter one.

Has anybody seen this set already in the local hobby shop somewhere?

I'm completely underwhelmed by the imagination displayed by Italeri....

Whilst I would have liked to have seen a new LCA they at least tooled up new figures for the LCVP re release with a full load of US infantry (all new).
It's a pity they didn't release theirlong announced X Craft as a D-Day Anniversary release as these were unsung heroes in the Recces and the Actual assult on D-Day.
Still, better than DML's D-Day commemorative releases

Hi Al,

Yes, the X Craft seems to have disappeared off the radar. (must be submerged!) I think the LCVP boat loaded with troops is an interesting one but they could have made it even better with an LCA loaded with Rangers or better still good old Tommies or Canadians

If they release the troops as a separate item then all those empty LCVPs/LCMs can get filled up.

Cheers

Al

There is supposedly a new LCVP "Higgins Boat" with new tooling and complete with crew and infantry figures (announced in our Model Shipwrights sister forum).
