Hi Sven,

Glad your enjoying the builds, this year is certainly the year for a WW1 project.

Jacob, great work on the tank and nice detailing of the part.

Cheers

Al

Thanks for your kind comments, Matt!

Yes, when I made this mistake I was tempted to just close everything down or simply leave it, but I couldn't get myself to do that. I'm glad it worked out in the end :-)
The Fruil tracks are very nice, I'll try and get some pics up of them soon.
I will definitely check those Masterclub rivets out.

Al, in response to your last post: you are right, this is the right time to build something WW1. Hopefully we'll get some newly tooled Mk.I - V's soon :-)

I have now made some more corrections, since I found some other mistakes.

1. The exhaust has been replaced with one of correct length. I had also managed to get ugly kinks in the bends which I did not like. The new pipe was done correctly, i.e. a ran a length of brass rod into the pipe before bending (same diameter as the opening), and this eliminated any risk of ugly kinks. The brass rod is slightly shorter than the pipe, to allow for the opening at the end.

2. The "stowage box" at the rear of the roof is in actual fact a metal frame with a lip along the top edge, I had made this as a solid, thick frame thinking that it was made of wood. This has now been corrected. the fixing brackets remain to be added.

I have also added the fuel tank now.

Other than that, I decided to try out the very nice Fruil tracks, so the last four pics are from this "quick trial".

It is possible that the tracks are on backwards in the pics, I will make sure that this is corrected in that case when they are put in place permanently. The track links are only press fitted for the trial (its a fairly tight fit, but I will use the provided wire to make sure they don't separate).

The tracks need to be about 1mm above the edge of the vehicle (all around), so I will add a guide to make this happen. A test guide has been glued in place for this trial, but I think I will need to make it slightly higher.

Idlers and sprockets are included in the Fruil set, but since I have already glued the plastic ones in place I will not use them on this model. They are barely visible in any case.

That's it for now, thanks as always for looking!

Cheers,
Sven

Thanks for following and for your kind comments, Matt, glad you like it so far :-)

That little bracket was another reason I remade the exhaust since it was too short and did not reach that far.

More details to come as the build progresses.

For now, this one will take a short break since I have some other modeling tasks to finalize for an early April deadline.

Back in April :-)

Well, I decided not to let Tamiya's promise of a brand new, undoubtedly gorgeous, Mk.IV with superb parts fit get me down. My Emhar will be completed no matter what.

As a matter of fact, I am just going to pretend I did not hear the Tamiya news, haha.

I have now done some more work on model, the rails have been added (which were very fiddly, not easy to get these parallel when scratchbuilding them), and the un-ditching beam has been made out of pc. I chose pc since I am not all that comfortable working with wood, and feel pc with scribed wood grain can work as well (We'll see what it looks like painted).
I realized afterwards that the beam is slightly too short, that is being rectified now.

A few rivets have also been added, but the majority of the missing rivets on the scratched parts will be added after the primer coat (the superb Archer rivet decals do not stick well to bare plastic, unfortunately - I speak from experience, but its no big deal to wait with them until the primer is on.).

Anyhow, here is the progress thus far. The build part is about 90% finished (not counting the tracks), so I hope to get around to painting and weathering soon.

Most of the MG's have been removed since I was worried I would break them off.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Sven

Hi Sven,

A man with 'True Grit'. Well done for sticking with the build which is looking excellent. I'll be interested to see the Archer rivets in action so to speak.

Terrific work.

Hello Al and Thomas!

Many thanks for your very kind comments, much appreciated!

Thomas, "old dog" is a perfect description of the Emhar kit, I hope I can teach it some new tricks :-)

Al, I will make sure to post pics of the riveting process once I get there. I'm counting on these being a huge time-saver.

Cheers,
Sven

This looks a really nice clean build, I built the wee airfix one a while ago and now have an interest in these much neglected machines. Maybe this year the floodgates will open and we'll be knee deep in them soon. Following along this one.

Hi Paul!

Thanks for your kind comments, and for following the build. I am sure the WW1 floodgates will open very soon. Looking forward to that :-)

Al, more to come regarding the rivets :-)
