In the near future I plan on starting a dio with the 1/16 Tamiya Tiger I and a couple of figs. Does anyone have some sites/links that would help me accurately place that early style of Tiger?
How long were those early models with the Feifel's around? Any info would be appreciated!

Hi IDHUNTER
My advice would to invest in Jentz & Doyle authors of Germany's Tiger Tanks, series of books. They are the definitive reference of the history of the Tiger's. But to answer your question from Feifel pre-filters began early October-November 1942. Starting with chassis # 280014. Simplified Feifel pre-filters were introduced in March 1943. 90% of the system was discontued in October of 1943. A few brackets were still welded to the top of the hull until December 1943.

Yes. 1st 4 "initial" Tigers went to the PzAbt 502 at Leningrad, where all were temporarily KO'd. Basic panzer gray, no zimm.
They may not even have had Feifels or side fenders, added after lessons learned the hard way. Can't recall exactly, but the few pics I've seen of these earliest Tigers indicate a lot of "cosmetic" differances between the following "early" Tigers. Remainder of the "initials" went to Africa with sPzAbt501, along with "earlys" with sPzAbt504, where they had the Feifels.
