Hi friends, after preparing the base for the Jagdpanzer IV L 70 as always using the modeling paste (in Italy I use the Das Bianco) I also found the figure be positioned inside the hatch of the superstructure using a Warrior reference 35353 (Panzer IV or Panther Tank Crew).Luckily I still have a few boxes of this excellent brand that realized beautiful figures. In the next post I will try to run a series of descriptions on the realization of the base.

Wauw, great work on the base Luigi, the figure looks crisp as well, looking forward to see some paint on it. Do you have a paint scheme planned?

Hi gigi
Very nice work on your tank! Crisp, clean modeling with a lot of tender and care for the little extra details. Look forward to your paint job!

Hi Erik many thanks for your comment.About camouflage I will use the pattern in three shades but not the Ambush camouflage.Because the photo in my possession only tank captured and preserved in the museum of Saumur presents this scheme.

Cheers Luigi

Hi Luigi,
I echo all of the praises above -- very nice details indeed! In addition, I really like the tall base; it somehow compliments the Jagdpanzer's long barrel.

I started painting the Jagdpanzer IV using as the base color Humbrol 94 Matt Brown Yellow.Following this color has been lightened with white because in the next steps of the various washes that execute on the model the color will return to be darker. The other colors used to make the camouflage are the Brown Humbrol 186 and Humbrol 86 Matt Light Olive. At the bottom of the hull I left the original base color.

After leaving to dry the color I run on the model a washing with raw umber oil well diluted. In the next step I started the real weathering work of the vehicle reproducing as first thing drips of dirt caused from the elements always with oil colors and then I initiate the realization of the first part of chipped paint due to wear with the usual pieces of sponges of various types and also with the help of a very small brush (Five 0) using the Humbrol color 67 Matt Tank Grey. The mud on the bottom of the hull has been realized with modelling earth to which I added a small quantity of poseidonia dry and a bit of pieces of hydraulic hemp to simulate the grass torn from the tracks all mixed with white glue and water.

After my recent visit to the Hobby Model Expo in Milan this year I bought some figures of Evolution Miniatures including a half bust of German tank crewman in winter uniform much more suited to the scene that set the Jagdpanzer IV reference EM-35059.I was pleasantly surprised the quality of these resin figures really very beautiful.I replaced the original head produced by Hornet in a winter version.
