Hello everyone a few months ago I started this new project it is the old Dragon kit.I replaced the barrel in the kit with a metal of Jordi Rubio and as you can see from the photos I'm replacing and substituting all those details inaccurate or absent. There are some minor errors that should fix and then I will start the construction of the brackets that support the Schürzen.

More photos on my blog http://acciaioverdemodellingblog.blogspot.it/2014/03/jagdpanzer-iv-l-70-on-workbench-3.html

I'll have to replace the damaged springs because they are too big.

Cheers Luigi

Thanks Jeff the work is still long.Post a picture that I was inspired for the construction of this model.Unlike the photo I set this tank with the support of the Schützen not damaged and still operating on German forces.

Nice work with the details but the armor plates on the sides and rear of the fighting compartment are twice as thick as they need to be. Not sure if you want to correct it at this point though.

I had started this kit when it originally came out but now the hull is my paint test piece.

I have the same kit, do not know which version though. What are you using for references? I would like to know the corrections/improvements that need to be done. You are doing great work. A great inspiration.

Hello friends First, thanks for the compliments.Regarding the thickness of the armor of the superstructure I do not know if I'm correct I only emphasized with pyrography those printed on the side of this old kit.Obviously I do not know if it is correct but not having certain measures I preferred to follow the lines of the kit and now I feel too late to make any corrections. As references I used mainly the book published in Japan Panzer in Saumur Volume 1 and the volume N.4 of the series Militar's Kit of French MK Editions where there is a nice article of the French modeller Gerard Deygas. However, mainly the photos of the specimen in my possession are kept in the museum of Saumur which should represent a sample of the first series produced by Alkett.I also have some pictures of the war but depict all specimens captureds or damaged.

Hey Luigi, just for fun, here's another person's rendition of the same vehicle. The pictures start towards the bottom of the page. There is not only pictures of the model, but 4 or 5 of the actual vehicle that were taken about the same time as the one you posted.

Many thanks Bob for sharing this link I found it very useful especially for the precious photo of the jars with the original colors used in the final period of the war.

I finished the construction of the Schürzen supports I made from scratch with the exception of the parts attached to the fenders coming from Eduard photoetced set. With a rod of plasticard of 1.6 mm diameter I realized the support tube and with a sheet of brass of 0.2 mm thickness the supports fixed to the superstructure. As you can see from the photos some of these supports are damaged because it will place the Schürzen as it is my intention represent this subject during the days of the Ardennes offensive in December 1944 and that because of the fighting and the various displacements lost the protection against shaped charge projectiles.

Thank you very much Ken I'm glad you like it.Post a picture after I replaced the damaged springs because as you can see from the first pictures were too large thickness.

GiGi;

Nice work and looks like progress (always a good thing! )

I do have a suggestion BEFORE you go to paint...

Get rid of that wire you have on there! Yes. That stuff wants to GO. It's way too thick - looks to me like you used the same wire to make grab-handles as for the camo-wire wrapped around them!

That wire would have been, well, wire. Probably not more than a couple mm in diameter, I think.

Wiring this beast will look cool - however, I strongly suggest using a much thinner wire - I would consider using the sort of very fine copper wire one can get out of computer and telephone cables - but NOT something stiff, like artist's beading wire. Not only will it look closer to scale, but it may well be easier to work with.

Cheers!

Bob

This is an excellent exercise in model making and not just 'kit assembly'. This has the making of being soemthing really special. I ggree with Bob however about losing the thick wire and agree also with his recommendation of a far more 'in scale' wire.

I shalll follow this with interes. Excellent quality and clear build pics as well; what's not to like!
