Really, all you need is a circle template. If you don't want to use the template as a guide, choose the right size and make your own masks from masking tape and a #11 blade. In fact,if you really get good with your airbrush, you won't even need masks, commercial or otherwise.

I second using a circle template. I used a circle cutter and masking tape, for years. It is a little difficult to master and redundant if you end up buying a $7 template.

MAIM (Modern Armies In Miniature) makes a wheel mask for the new Dragon M48A3. I suspect it can be used on M60 road wheels as well.

Quickwheel already makes wheel masks for the M-60 series of tanks. Check them out on eBay or other retailers.

Are you sure? I looked them up yesterday on their webstore and couldn't find anything for the M-60? OOP perhaps?

Cheers,

Quickwheel M60 set for Tamiya. Says for the Sgt York also, which I guess fits the M48.

I never understood the need for the templates... I just paint the wheel, do my shading and drybrushing, and then find that a small brush is just as easy to paint the edge of the rubber as your turn the wheel.

Maybe I'm missing something but these seem like a product looking for a need rather than visa versa.

Or some people don't have super-steady hands.

Or some people use airbrushes for the majority of their painting and the templates permit nice sharp demarcation lines and the ability to apply further airbrush weathering.

My vote is for the template. I used to paint the tires by hand after spraying the wheels the vehicle color. if you want to take the lazy route the template is waaay faster
