Looks like the master has been cast. Charlie Pritchett has posted pics on his FB account. Very excited to see this released - it won;t be long now.

Nice. It's not the only M113 based vehicle coming.

Is the ADATS still in service with the Canadian Army? Definitly a must-have.

Hi, ADATS was retired recently. There are few used as training aids, but there are no missiles left in the inventory. It joined the Javelin S-15, GDF-005 35mm Gun & Skyguard. Canadian Army now has no ground-based Air Defence.

Graeme.....It floors me that any military would not have a ground based AD capability. I think my own Army is extremely short-sighted thinking the HMMWV Avenger is adequate.

Yep, no AD. It's germane to the ADATS, so I'll only go a little off topic..
Without getting into all the whys & wherefores, we had an Army that had to be cut. The General looked at any vehicle that had not been deployed on an operation and that was strike 1 (we lost SP Artillery around the same time when M-109 was cut...however the combat function remains with M-777).
There's a sense that the main gun of LAV-25 is "good enough" for AD, and that we will always deploy as part of a coalition with air supremacy & theatre GBAD courtesy of Uncle Sam. The French thought the same thing when they deployed to the Ivory Coast...and yet:
And I would be very surprised if Spec Ops Regt and/or JTF-2 did not hold some kind of fire & forget MANPADS.

This might make a nice what-if Stryker ADV. I always thought that was a missing version in the range.

Now that the date is not first of April anymore:
Is this for real ??
I worked half a year at Contraves in Switzerland who were very much involved in developing the ADATS (I wasn't even close to that project but a model of it would be VERY interesting, saves me the effort to scratchbuild ....)

Definitely looking forward to this. May have to build two though...one for me and one for my grandfather. He was one of the CF Training Development Officers that went to Switzerland back in the 80's to develop the CF training program for the ADATS when we acquired them.

Hi Henri - my example was what happens when soldiers deploy without AD. Yes, I'm aware France has GBAD, but since the Ivory Coast airforce was 2 x fixed wing (+/-), its showed what 2 aircraft can do when troops cannot return fire. In the end, I believe French SOF destroyed the aircraft while they were on the ground at the airfield.
It's not a 1 April joke fellas.
We're looking into a PE stencil to paint the few markings on the ADATS.

That was the MMEV concept...it never became a reality....but would make a great What If with the conversion and a LAV III hull!

The ADATS on a Bradely was the winner of the US LLAD trials, however the project was cancelled in the early 1980's. I believe it was called Linebacker, though that name persisted with the BSFV.

Interesting. I've got an @$$load of complete Bradley hulls minus tracks. Might have to give do that.
