I've got Dragon's Tiger I 6253 sitting in my meager stash, and have been pondering how to avoid zimmeriting it, and what unit to mark it with. That said, I figure it would be interesting to build it up as one of Totenkopf's remaining Tiger I's around beginning of the Budapest relief efforts. I figure I would just ask the great phalanx of Tiger aficionados rather than get lost somewhere in the bowels of the internet. So! Would one of these beats have zimmerit, and where would I find decals for just such a tank?
Thanks!

Sorry, but you're going to have to Zimmerit it. Virtually all Tiger 1s after the initial version had Zimmerit. As for decals, try Archer or Bison.

Yes but it's the Late model that I've got. It could've easily had zimmerit, but I'm not sure as to when they stopped receiving the Tiger I's and began getting King Tigers.
I had thought of Arches right after posting that hahaha. Bison hadn't come to mind though, I'll have to give them a look as well.
Thanks

Get either the Cavalier or better yet, Atak version and you'll stress out less.

Whenever Tiger IIs got to a unit is irrelevant. ALL Tiger Is produced after Aug '43 had zimmerit. Your "late" Tiger I surely would have had it. Sorry -- but no way to avoid this fact.

So there's no way around it then... Guess I'll be giving the zimmerit a shot!

Conor.
I am currently doing a Dragon Late Tiger 1 and using the 'Cavalier' Zimm set for it and it's pretty much a perfect drop fit. It's also so thin (almost transparent) that battle damage is simply a few 'nicks' with the scalpel blade.
Buy and use with total confidence and applying the entire set to the kit will take you about 2 hours max.
Tip - use two part epoxy rather than super glue to allow some working time to slide the panels into position. Good luck it's a great kit and zimm set!
