Looks like Trumpeter has been hard at work. They have listed a Russian T-90A and GCT 155 AU F1 SPG.

I was a bit annoyed when I thought Trumpeter would be coming out with the 155 too. But the Indian trials 155/T72 isn't a bad idea at all. As long as they keep the price resonable.

Is there a chance that Trumpeter will steal Dragon's crown?

Hi Everybody;

The T-72/auf lower and upper Hull look like Tamiya copys, as well as the road Wheels. Why would they go out and do that, I was really looking forward too something different from H.B.! I wonder if it will be possible too mix trumpeter's new T-72s with this kit. OH Well In any case I will still purchase this kit. And compare it against my Conversion. And the Tos-1 looks Interesting.

I'm thinking the AuF 1 T-72 hull is probably the same as Trumpeter's B, Hobby Boss being part of Trumpeter and all it doesn't make since for them to not share molds.

Erik, if you look at Hobbyboss' website you can see the parts are completely different. The upper hull is one piece and the lower hull has motorization holes. Hopefully they don't charge a premium for it. Remember that Trumpeter used to produce a knock-off of the Tamiya T-72, so maybe they just updated those molds.

Woah, just saw that. That really surprises me. You're right, the hull looks just like the the Tamiya knock off Trump kit I have in my stash. I wonder why they didn't just use the Trump molds??

You can see the instructions for the AU-F1 here... it's definitely not Trumpeter's T-72 base... Too bad, i was planning on getting one

Well your correct, the parts are based on the Tamiya Knockoff they did years ago, slightly updated (new road wheels and other things)

As for the new Trumpeter molds...well it would require them tooling up new parts to back-date it into a T-72A model and I'm assuming this is going to be "value" priced due to it being based on old molds with newer turret.

Value priced? Have you seen some of Tamiya's newish kits (their M1 TUSK and T55 Enigma, specifically)? Two kits with updated molds and they charged a premium for them. This comming from a company I would normally call 'cheap and cheerful'. Trumpeter are going to want a small fortune for the AUF I'd bet.

At least we still have the TOS to blow our money on! Even better yet I saw some footage on NBC Sunday night showing one in Ukraine.

T-72 hull is from the old T-72 Trumpeter kit, which is a knock off from the Tamiya kit. It was sold under Wasan label when it came out.

Hi Everybody;

I Still cant believe they ( H.B. ) did that too us,
This gripes me too no end ! Well at least they give you six spoke road wheels also, But I only have seen One Sprue for that. And looking at the sprue of the suspension its the same Tamiya Sprue, and the Tracks look the same. ie; Rubber Band Type. OH WELL !!
MATT; How Did you get the TOS-1 already, Please Give us More Details and How Dare You tease Us With The One (1) Picture.

What's the story behind that AUF1 on the T-72 chassis? Was that a paper panzer, or has it actually been used somewhere?

Indian trial vehicle. Only one or two were built. They didn't like it.

It just 'popular' because it's the only really noticeable modification to the standard AMX 30 vehicle unless you know the differences between the different production types of the AMX 30. And who the hell does?

I sure don't! But aftermarket sccessories and decals for AMX-30s and AUF1s in foreign service would be interesting.

Hi;

There were A Total of Ten Vehicles built, five were for Trials and the other five were too be used on the International Trade Shows circuit. There were only about A Dozen Interested foreign Buyers, too this Date there has been none Sold.
From looking at the Sprue shots its just the Trumpeter's copy of Tamiya's T-72, now if one were interested they could use the Turret from the Meng Auf-1 and have just A Lil, Bit Better Turret ! And another thing that's interesting is the Sprues of the T-72 with parts never too be used in this build, but that's o.k. ! More Parts for the Parts Bin, The only Real Sore Point that IMHO are the kits Tracks, they are A Must Item that needs too be Replaced with Trumpy's T-72s tracks.

Hobby Boss didn't "do" anything to anyone. They just offered an item for sale that some people don't want. Hardly worth getting angry [ ] about.

At least I'm sure you can spot the differences between these

AMX-30D EBG (= Engineer Armored Vehicle) :

Upgraded variant (EBG-VAL) :

AMX-30 Roland launcher :

AMX-30 Pluton launcher :

AMX-30 Mine clearing vehicle :

AFAIK, the EBG and the mine clearing vehicle are still in use.

Sorry for the digression...
