I just finished Dragon's F1 in 1/72, which is identical (except for scale!) and I thought yours was also 1/72 until I saw the PE . Who makes PE that small and how do you apply it!!. Duhhh! Then I saw the MiniArt dio accessories. . That kit looks good in either scale.

Hehe, i too would be scared of PE in that scale!

Erik, Well... It's going Not much time over at the moment, hopefully have a stab at the base coat this weekend! I am using vallejo paints exclusively (for no real reason, availability i guess) but I do think oils are easier to control when it comes to weathering. They dry really fast those acrylics! When it comes to "modulation" however I think they work just fine. I guess everyone have their own definition of the technique but to me it means gradients which i think is pretty straight forward to airbrush

Sven: Thanks!

Michael: It is indeed Sierra Nevada! One of my fav's as well. A bit pricey here in Sweden since its import but worth it!
Thanks for the tip with the styrfoam. I will definitly try that out sometime. For this one i have a wooden base where i intend to have the ground plane as flush as possible with the baseplate, hence the cutting off the sides. Will see how that works out...

Wood base -- I had a feeling. BTW: I like the looks of that MiniArt diorama kit. Can't wait to see how you transform it.

Hey Rob, thanks! Painting still a step away, right about when I was ready to start my compressor broke down...

The PE is from Griffon

Great set, no complaints! (except that they should have included more tool clasps for me to destroy before getting the hang of it )

Small update, i'm not dead or anything!
What did die though was my compressor and between trying to get it replaced and work i haven't been able to get much done...
Here is how far i got the basecoat before the compressor went "pfzzissssdboom":

And... Meet the crew!

Dragons #6375. Not sure if i got a real lemon but the fit have been really bad and not that impressed with the molds either

Compared to never dragon figure kits i have it's not even close.

Lovely work Johan.
You have to visit C4-Open i Malmö, so I can see your model in real life. Witch heads are you using for the figures?

Thanks for the kind words!
I actually talked a bit with my wife about coming down, we have friends both in Malmö and Copenhagen so it's quite possible. I still need to finish the tank though...

The heads are the one included in the kit, maybe not the best but decent. Yet to walk down the replacement heads road

Johan, nice work so far. Hope you can get a replacement compressor soon. I'd like to see more of your work. I love the 5 headless crewmen, "bowsie", "cheersie", "dancsie", "huggsie" and "barfsie". LOL.

Haha!
I must admit, that was not what I was going for but I see now that I might have to rethink the entire diorama setup!

Thanks Erik, It's slow going so far. I have some problem communicating with spraypal.com (where i bought the stuff)
Seems like they stopped responding to my emails for some reason
I'm actually thinking about just giving up buying a new one but I'm a bit strapped for cash so that's not a real good option either... Might just have to start another kit in the meanwhile

Oh I see, how annoying. But why this company, is the compressor still on warranty?

Was it an eBay purchase ? Your build got me curious so I took the dragon 6360 and the unused gun from the 6330 , married those two for an F1 version .

meh, slow going. Did some boring things like filling the miniart base to fit better on the base plate, cleaned my workbench and started to paint faces (shouldnt have, rattle can primer coat sucked and i cant spray gloss coat either... )

Basecolor + deep shadow + eye whites

Did a paintover in photoshop to get a reference for future painting (thats the guy on the far right)
1 base flesh color and one highlight + a little red on the lower lip

I see it, you also like to work with PE. photo 034_zps5da11572.gif
Very nice, I especially like the damage on armor plate.

There not really anything you can complain about dragon except sometimes the prices are up there , but then you have to look at what you get .

Thread RESURRECTION!1!

It took me some time to save up the dough but yesterday my new baby arrived

Hansa aero-pro 20a oil compressor. silent but kind of pricey...

I finished the primer, Vallejo white. Not to keen on it, felt poorly pigmented??
Then some pre shading with nato black and finally a base coat of medium sea gray (All Vallejo air)

Really rusty with the airbrush but at least the compressor is amazing

Ok, so slow going but at least going Taking care of my 10 month old daughter so bench time is scarce (except at night, when I'm already exhausted hehe). Trying to squeeze in time where I can though!

Got the tracks, roadwheels and interior finished.

Nothing fancy with the interior. Kept it really simple with just a quick burnt umber wash over the base coat. Next project I might detail the interior a bit better but yeah.. Baby steps

They came out a bit dark. Next time I will try a lighter base coat

Finally tested some composition. Think this is the layout I'll go ahead with!

Very nice work, indeed. Just remember, the tracks and road wheels will make the gunner sit a little higher.

Thanks Matt! And right you are, hadn't really thought about that but don't think it will compromise the scene. Hopefully it'll add some dynamic with the extra distance
