Question about the Dragon 88mm Flak36 w/ Flak crew 1/35th model kit no.6260. Should the gun shield be concave? Is this a known problem with this kit?

If so what is the best way to flatten it out again? I was thinking of putting some weight on it - would heating with a hairdryer help ease it back into shape?

Any help appreciated.

The shield shouldn't be concave. If it's not too bad, you may want to try hot water first. A hairdryer is pretty much a last resort weapon because it's so easy for things to go wrong using one.

Thanks - will try the water option first. Can't complain was only £20 for the kit - might be wrong but it seemed quite cheap as its the kit with the crew.

Cheers again.

Do yourself a favor and get the excellent Lion Roar PE set. It comes with new shields. But its true value is the TONS of brackets and fittings for the SdAnh 202 bogies. You look at what the kit gives you and you think: "that's pretty nice"

Then you look at what PE does and you'll say: "Geez, the kit really has a lot of shortcuts!"

Cheers - that does indeed look nice. Have a feeling that would test my non-existent PE skills to the max.

48 hours later it's straighter but not 100% perfect. At the start centre was a good 3mm off the table top.

Still a slight kink I can't get rid of though.

However I have just found a slight problem with one of metal gun barrels - it appears to have had the end sawn off - You can see the saw marks. Photo of it next to the plastic version. I've line a feature on the barrels up so it is quite apparent that it is shorter. Unhappy bunny as this is the one I was planning to use.
