Are there any good aftermarket recommendations for both editions of Trumpeter's 1/35 ASU-85, such as figures, tracks, etc?
A great many pictures show the ASU-85 full of soldiers on its top.
Any help would be appreciated.

I wonder if some WW2 Soviet tank riders could be used with some mods (maybe I'm off the mark here )

Ant miniatures makes a large range of tank riders for BTR's but they should share the time time period for your project.

Hi Bill
AfAIK, the ASU-85 was phased out in the early 90's so many of ANT sets may not be usable...

Accurate Armour also makes a replacement mantle for the ASU which is nicely done. As far as the troops to ride on it, you could use ww2 style troops, But you need to be careful. The uniforms didn't change much from ww2 until about the late 70's early 80's, but the padded winter jacket was phased out some time after the war and they went to a more modern style winter jacket / overcoat. Stir away from the Ant figures as they are meant for late 90's and newer. If you use some ww2 figures just change out the gear and weapons. One company to look into is Hobby Planet, they make a host of 60's-90's soviet troops.

I recommend the Accurate Armour resin mantlet as I've never seen an ASU that didn't have the cover. It's too bad that no one makes correct tracks for this kit still.

Henri-Pierre,
These figures are exactly what I am looking for, but of modern Russian figures, instead.
Do you have the link for this Company?
I appreciated your help.

Flores

Hello Bill,
Sure, but I'm quite sure that the ASU-85 was used in Afghanistan thus modern Russian Tank riders will fit the time frame.
Many thanks,
Flores

I'm afraid I spoke too soon without considering the timeline. I would listen to Frenchy about the correct figures.
I look forward to your build.

Here's my ASU-85 I based one what I believe is one of the only pics of an ASU in Afghanistan.
So what about the bottom picture here ? I guess it could be a good candidate :
