over christmas I got the Chev a little more complete by scratchbuilding a rear Deck for it from photos. I have not detailed the interior as it is going to be completely closed in with a tarp/tilt. I have still to do this but I will be using 5 thou card to do it with.
Comments welcome
the deck
hinge detail
side detail
sitting on the back. Still to do are the mudflaps and tool boxes underneath and the canvas tilt.

Mr Roo, your work is quite impressive. And there seems to be no end to your madness.
When you are doing all these scratchbuilt trucks, how serious do you take it, i mean with actual scale dimensions? Do you just "hack it in"(a term we use in work), or is it all well researched (dimensions of the hinges and such)?

Nice build. The scratch stuff is really well done.
Are there any plans for the grill? I am unfamiliar with this truck so I may be off base. The grill looks a bit bulky to me.

Brother Pouch:
In the words of Darth Vader "Impressive --------MOST Impressive!"
The third pic showing the verticle support brackets with the rivet/bolt head detail and the angular cut on the top and bottom of the outside bars of the bracket is pretty nervy, (i.e. to get that close with the camera) --- any and all imperfections pop out --- and there aren't any on this construction. Very very impressive scratch work Cliff.
W-onderful scratch building
O-utstanding close up pics
W-e want more --- keep us posted pal.

there is no PE used on this kit. All the brass work has been cut out of brass strip and sheet and hand formrd useing pliers etc.
The grills on this model chev were very bulky as it was part of the body work more than a grill.

scale accuracy
I know these trucks of old (the real thing) and have dealings with the fittings on them so I know the approximate sizes for each part. However parts like hinges are only approximate where as the accual deck dimentions are true to scale within reason.
PS> I am not a true rivit counter as I believe these are scale models that reprecent the real thing NOT scaled down Real vehicles!
thanks for your comments

Bravo Mr. Roo.. Is the bed a total scratch? I like your use of brass for the tarp frame. Very nice. I am following this build and taking notes (who says an old horse can't learn something new).
Is any of the rear cargo bed going to be seen? If so might I suggest thet you scribe some lines for the side boards on the inside..

Animal the entire deck is scratch built and I have not scribed the board lines on the interior as the back is to be closed in with a canvas tilt and none of it will be seen.
So all that lovely brass wire frame will be covered up.........lol
thanks for the comments folks

Roo:
Looks great!! But my only concern is it doesn look Aussie enough. Where are the pipe guards on the front of the truck and the tubing over the driver area? I've seen all three Mad Max movies and have pretty much used those to base my knowledge of Oz on (along with Crocidial Dundee, 1, 2 AND 3).
In all seriousness, looks like a great build you have going there of a vehilce I've never seen. But that seems to be your speciality. Keep us posted!!!
