I found the scrim looks better when you use cheap woven bridal veil material super glued on to the helmet. The burlap strips are made from lead foil.

That is brilliant, and defiantly looks a thousand times better than the moulded one you have in the third picture. I'm going to have to start having a having a hunt for the bridal veil material. I'm sure my mum will have some somewhere lol

Well good evening everyone, hope everyone is keeping well. So decided as there isn't much on at work that I'll crack on with the second of my little Universal Carriers. The build is pretty much exactly the same as the first one, so I wont bombard the feed with pics, but this is the stage I'm at now. Everything has been painted and given its base coat of Tamiya XF-61. Now just to give it a blast over with the satin varnish and then a dry brushing and assembly.



I also gave all my figures a going over with a grey primer ready for painting at a later stage.



Still just need to go and get the Tamiya British infantry on patrol and possibly mini arts British tank riders.

Good afternoon everyone. Well I've been at it again this afternoon smashing out as much as i can on my second universal carrier. Here's the progress so far.

This is just a couple of the dry brushing work I did on it, however, I need to get good at the lighting side of things to make it stand out more.





After applying the decals that Emeritus sent me, this is the result.





Had an absolute nightmare with decals as they where from a kit made back in 1994. But after slipping all the broken up decals back together I got it looking good.

From there I added the wheel assembly and that all I've managed to do today as I'm off to watch a rugby match.

Respectable effort. Always remember if you have a flaw like the old worn out decal thing you can always cover that up with foliage used as cammo or a strategically draped piece of tarp,etc.

Hi jerry, yeah I'm racking my brains to think of what i could put to cover it, however they look Ok and with a little bit or wear and tear added to them I dont think the floors will be noticeable. Just a nightmare trying to fit them lol

Once again, good afternoon one and all. Well I've pretty much finished the two universal carriers and thats pretty much all the vehicles built. Just to crack on with the buildings now which im really not looking forward to but I'll get them done. Enjoy!!!

Haha I think its just because I have so much time to my self with work being quiet I can crack on with them like theres no tomorrow lol

Well I've got the walls put together now. Took me all afternoon to sand down and glue together. Off away with the lady next week so I'm going to leave them to let the glue to dry then once I'm back it back to sanding them all down











All I'm going to say is that my arm is now killing from all the sanding!!! But just to sort the edges out, fit them party together and paint, lots and lots of paint till hopefully they'll end up looking like this.

Have to agree with the gentlemen above...nice job on these carriers!!

I love them anyway! They are so ugly they are attractive again!!!

I must say that I like the colours you've used on this sample!! Creamy, warm......now give the piece a thorough wash for the recesses....and you'll have a magnificent building!

Yeah thats exactly what I'm going to do. Been looking at people demonstrating how to do washes so I think i'm clued up on it now, just need to do some practice then I'll smother those buildings lol

And don't forget to practice on a spot that could (maybe, just thinking ) eventually be covered with vine f.ex., so any "happy accidents" would not even appear on the screen!

Well I'm back after a few hectic weeks at work.

Today so far decided to crack on with paint some of the figures, giving them there basic paint jobs.

First guy so far is the old farmer.

Hi everyone, sorry for the long time away but I've just moved into my new house and getting settled in there.

However some small progress has been made.

Thanks Sean for the reference, that will come in very handy indeed for when I eventually get around to painting the building.

Now I've been at it a little today, first time in a while, so I've started by cracking on and getting all of the figures all base painted.









So I did a little work on the farmer, did a few of the details on him.



Just needs a gloss coat then some shading and a spraying of satin varnish then he's finished.

I also worked on the first of the tank crews.





That's all I have for now, will keep adding every time I get a new figure done, should only take me the whole weekend lol

Any advice as always is always welcome!!

Well I managed last night to get one more figure done, taking a longer than I thought it would but I'm getting there with them.

So I managed to get the rear passenger from one the Bren Gun Carriers.

This is him before:



And this is him after:



He's now ready for his gloss coat then some shadowing then a satin varnish and he is done.

I also today got threw my ARCHER decals for the uniforms.



I went for the BRITISH 50th Infantry Div.



This will match in with the two Bren Gun Carriers so keeping the model together. Just need to find the Youtube video of how to apply them so I don't muck them up lol.

I gave the "micro chipping" effect a go and I'm very impressed with it outcome.











I think they have come up very good indeed. Going to give it a little dry brushing with the lighter green to blend them into the rest of the model then that's that part done.

Will have more updates later on today, having a whole weekend of painting I am

Thats all for now!! Going to get me some food then back to geting the figures painted.

Lookin' really good brother! I like that you didn't over-do it with the chipping. Lot of that going around lately.
