Hey Guys -
I'm returning to armor building and have the following situation. I have recently begun building the Sd.Kfz. 7/2 3.7cm Flak 36 by Dragon (#6541). I'm thinking it may have been too much for a "return to the hobby build", so to speak. The instructions are kind of chaotic. I really like building German armor, but it may be best if I choose a kit a little more manageable...Tamiya? Can some of you guys kindly recommend a kit that would help me get back into the swing of things? Thanks so much for your help!

Thank you, Darren. I am going to look over the Tamiya kits and see which one catches my eye. Panzer, Tiger, Stug, or even a German halftrack.

Hi Johnathon,
As a fellow returning modeler (eight months now), allow me to add: It gets better ... and then it gets worse ... and then it gets better again ... and then it becomes a down-right addiction! Enjoy!

I agree with Tamiya. Great choice and a lot of good kits to select from. Panzer IV H, StuG III B or G, marder III kits are all very good builds. The recent Academy Hetzer and Pz. 35T kits would offer some variety.

If you like German armor the Tamiya StuG IV is a good way to get into the mindset of all those 28 wheels and do something slightly different at the same time. It's a pretty solid kit.

Tamiya for sure, I would recommend Meng also. I just finished construction of their FT-17 kit and it was very straight forward with just enough PE brass to introduce a beginner

Old thread, I know, but the first tank I built after returing to the hobby (from when I was a kid, 55 now) was the Tamiya Challenger II Desertized. I know it's not a German tank. and its modern, but it went together GREAT, and it's a cool tank, too!

Good comments. The older Tamiya kits are good for getting back into the hobby. I had the same issue. Eyes and arthritis! Also try for kits that will have easier camo/paint jobs to them.
Good luck-have fun.

Tamiya is the best for getting back into the groove. If budget limits, Academy is relatively straight forward.
A particular fast and relatively easy model by Trumpeter will be the KV tanks.
