Ultimately the cammo came out great. I've never been a fan of the silly putty method as you have to shape into a round profile so that it's not right up against the model. That way you get a very small amount ofcfeathering on the paint.
I like to enlarge the cammo scheme on a photo copier to 1/35, and cut out each color (black and brown or green and brown if I've primed with black) Then I use silly putty, blue tac, C$ or whatever else is around, and roll it onto small balls. I use those to create about a 5-6mm standoff from the model. It works great, you just have to insure you're shooting straight at the edge of the paper.
