That particular photo shows a sheet metal plate on a Gate Guardian that was at 1 Bde in Holsworthy. I can tell you it is a non standard fitting and was put there to prevent vandalism. You can see where the workshop welded a standard .50 cal barrel directly onto the mantlet for the ranging gun. Incidentally the unit that did the refurb of this former range wreck (101 Fd Wksp) used one of the units actual 50 cal barrels from the Fitters A vehicles and one of the vehicles (88 - M806 ARVL) had a 50 cal ranging barrel until we could organise a replacement in 94.
