As we have discussed recently we would like the RRB to stick to it's mandate to offer constructive criticism for those who post here (that is after all WHY they are posting here). This doesn't mean you can't say something nice about a users work as well. As long as you stay away from the overly cliché "Great job!" posts. If you want to say great job then send a PM.
That said I would like to welcome Steve (sniper) as a new moderator for this forum. Steve's task is to remind everyone occasionally about the above and work to encourage a productive and respectful environment for users to post their projects here.
Thanks Steve for taking on this job!
Cheers,
Jim

Thanks! I have a few ideas that will hopefully make the RRB an even better place to share work and most importantly improve skills.
Being a former art student and now teaching fine arts myself, I am somewhat familiar with the critique process!
In the next couple of days I hope to send a few ideas over to Kencelot and maybe we can come up with a game plan to share with the rest of you. No major changes I'm sure, but a few tweaks.
I'm sure you guys also have some good suggestions, and if you could post them or pm them to me or Kencelot it would be a big help.
Thanks again!

What if that in addition to the armor/figure/plane category, we also detailed up the categories to like armor - newbies, armor - experienced.... if not too much trouble for the webmaster, so in this way, we will be easy on the newbies, and a little "rough" on the experienced modelers?

Another suggestion from the peanut gallery... namely me :-)
Could we have a "Display Case" board where completed models, dios, figures, etc. can get posted. This would free up the other forums from all of the "my latest ____" posts as well as move all of the completed model postings off of the RRB.
I love the RRB for the posting of "in-progress" pictures for helpful hints and advice, however I hesitate to make suggetions on kits the owner has declared done. The "Display Case" would be a great place to see everybodys completed projects and offer congrats to jobs well done. The RRB could then be used as a more "constructive" tool.
Plus, I like to look at everybodys completed models...... ships, figures, planes, tanks, and even trucks :-) By using a display case board, I'd be able to see everybodys work in one place and not have to just luck into seeing it posted to one of the forums i don't visit very often.
just my 2 cents-
Jeff

This was one of the 'big' ideas I had thought of suggesting. Some kind of rating system for skill, level of experience, etc.
Glad someone else thinks it may be worthwhile! #:-)

Jeff,
Thanks for the input and in many respects this is a fine idea. However we are already bulging at the seams with forums. However I could add a "Display Case" group to each of the A/C, Armor, Figures, Dioramas, and Warship forums. That way if you were looking for completed projects they could be easily found.
What does everyone think of that idea?
Cheers,
Jim
