And I wonder if it exists on the tubes that come with the Trumpeter BM-21.. or the Voyager upgrade set?

The Trumpeter tubes have it :

and the Voyager Models tubes have it as well, but judging by this picture, I'd bet it's a separate part !

Don't know what Trumpeters tubes look like .....

A square rod, e.g. 0.75mm by 0.75 mm seem a more logical choice.

And now for the firing mechanism.
My friend tells me that two firing mechanism can be used.
1 one is installed in the cab. It is a box about 30 cm by 15 cm by 10 cm. I has a dial switch on it that selects the rockets. Some buttons are for safety and firing. There is also a remote firing box similar to the one in the cab. The only difference is that the remote box has a cable about 25 mm think and betwenn 40 and 50 meters long. For providing the current, a small crank is attached, similar to a dynamite detonator.
Plaes take not that these informnations are from memory, so I don`t take responsibilty for accuracy.
Hans-Hermann
P.S. I am sure that these makeshift launchers may use equally makeshift igniters.

You can notice a remote firing box variant in the bottom left corner of this picture (1 red button = 1 tube )

I'm feeling this groove thing will be difficult to replicate ... Maybe I'll just buy Voyager's set that has the tubes! Got to think about it a little bit

Anyone has the lenght of the kits tubes?

Trumpeter tubes are coming in at 8.1cm (measured while still on the sprues) while the Voyager tubes are just about 8.2cm.

I have here a photo of what I believe is a truck carrying BM-21 ammunition.

As far as I can tell from the footage it was taken from it was across the road from an Ethiopian BM-21 launcher position that was overrun by the Eritrean forces during the Battle of Massawa. Just thought it might be of interest !

Hisham- I hope you don't mind if I ask a question of my own here?!

Specifically to Hans-Hermann- I was wondering if you could maybe ask your friend when you next see him about a detail on the BM-21. I'm curious about a large storage bin behind the cab on the passenger side. The Voyager kit has it nicely detailed inside with shelves etc- I was thinking of building it open so I was just wondering if you could find out what was stored in there- was it just a kind of all purpose tool box for anything they needed on the vehicle or was there something specific stored in there?

Many thanks for any help !

Hi Karl,
got the message. I see what I can find out on monday. I guess I have to print out some pics to mark the appropriate pieces.
Cheers
Hans-Hermann
P.S.An offering for all interested. Please post pice of the parts in question and I`ll try if my friend can answer it.
It also looks that we need a good book about the BM-21.

Hi Karl and all others,
had a lot to do at work so I could`t ask just today. My friend told me that the large stowage contains two items, One is a cleaning kit for tubes, consisting of two swabbers and a brush. the set also contains steel tubes to make a 4m (12 ft.) rod for the brush. He told me that cleaning 40 tubes after firing was no fun. The other item are spare components for the fire control system. Obviouly, Soviet electronics weren`t to reliable in the mid/late 1970`s. He tld some other stories about his serving time, makes me believe that serving 2 years in the Soviet Army was a non-nonsense time.
