Hi folks,
Once I have the review of the new kit done I'll be starting a build blog of the kit, so watch this space and feel free to comment and join in.

I've started on mine already. Gorgeous kit, goes together beautify. And contrary to what is said at the club meeting, this is a model kit, not a toy. It can be built without the motor (which I am doing). It really goes together quickly. My only real complaint is that the grab handles are molded solid - but that's easy to fix.

I started my blog on an Italian modelling forum

Glad to see some more people did the same.
Good luck to everybody!

I wonder Tamyia are still doing these "with motor" things...
hoping the kit is a winner!

Hi folks,
Thanks for looking in. I like the look of the Friulmodel spuds an advantage the Tokam kit had but those shown in Pierantonio's model build look to fix that issue. I'm not sure what date these started to be used though, so I'll have to check.
My intention is to add a little detail around the inside of the 6pdr compartment as I intent to leave at least one of the doors open and some basic seating so I can have a face looking out of the drivers or co-drivers hatch. The open door might mean the need to add an ammo rack but I'll see how things develop internally.
The figure set looks good and the weapons and most of the kit would also be suitable for the BEF or the early desert war period.
Cheers

Hi Rick,
Thanks. Day Day Miniatures have a couple Tank Corps of figures released already that I've started work on and .....
Looking over on ML Roman Volchenkov looks to be developing a really cool set that I hope will come onto the market: see link below, so hopefully there will be some choice crew around.
http://www.diorama.ru/forum/download/file.php?id=54694&mode=view
For those who'd like attacking infantry then the Tamiya set and Model Cellar have some suitable subjects and the MB Tommy's and German Prisoners also offer possibilities. I'm keen to see what the new ICM British troops will be so lots of possibilities developing on the WW1 front.
Cheers

Hi Allen,
Probably to appeal to younger modellers, it's a good way to draw young people into the hobby and that is no bad thing. My first look and what I've read suggests that it's a perfectly good model to do as a static display or motorised for fun.
I hope to make a start Saturday or Sunday although I'm still working on stuff to finish The Somme Part 2.
I wounder if ITA will do some internals for either this one or the Takom kit?
Cheers

Ha, All quiet on the Western Front
Hi folks,
In order for plan A to work (the sponson doors open) I'll need full Lewis guns. The kit provided barrel only in the mount, so I started by drilling out the ball mount to accept a full gun. I'll use some of the Resicast Lewis guns for replacements. It would probably be doable using the Lewis Guns from the Chevrolet LRDG truck as an alternative.
As most of the additional work will be in that area I started at stage 27, page 11. For reference I'll be using the Hayes Owner's Workshop Manual for the Mk IV.
I bought this book in anticipation of a Mk IV release and reviewed it a while back here on site:

OK folks, here we go,
I drilled out part P16, and then split the Resicast Lewis gun as you need to add part P3 on the inside. I glued in Part E6 the floor and Part E 10 the 6pdr mount. Part P2 is the outer ring for the Lewis gun mount. The edge you fix it to is very thin so take care when fixing this part. I also drilled out the vision slots. Some of these slots would have had periscopes fitted and some I believe were direct vision.

Hi folks,
A bit more work on the sponsons. Added both Lewis guns and started work on one of the 6pdrs. Builds p well, there are some ejection pin marks to fill/file off on the inside of the sponsons and also on the inside of Part P8 and top of Part P17 and P9.
There are two part P7s that look like they belong to the gun and are on the gun tree but I can find no indication of where they go, but they may be required elsewhere - time will tell.
Progress

Wonderful work on the figures! My hand is not steady enough to attempt the fine detail you have done.

Thanks Greg,
The only thing I altered was the shirt collar on the NCO and I removed the LCpls chevrons and replaced them with Sgts stripes.
They are two nice figures.

Rivets... Memories of the M3 Grant, huh?
If I may make a suggestion... some additional lighting from the opposite side of the window (it appears to be natural light) would get rid of a lot of the shadows in your photos.

Alan,
I see you drill all vision hles but in my opinion this was a waste of time because all of them had a glass block and a metal cover insede the tank.
Look at the following picture points show with arrows. Note they have two holes because they are seen in something like a transparent view so the lowest hole is inside the tank, the other outside.
I pointed also the opening device of pistol ports.
Picture from original drawing preserved in Bovington and published on Great War Tank book (by the way it's a great book). Here only for modelling discussion.
Since my Landship will have both TC and driver with open front vision doors, I will made a resin copy of vision block to improve my drive cab interior.
