Looking at the pics there and elsewhere I don't see any major improvement over the Tamiya kit. The indy track links are a wash for me because I would still buy a set of Friuls for the kit. Having said that I will still probably end up buying it.

Hi Nice review. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Looks like a winner all right. Luckily I have an old Tiger II kit that is starting to fall apart, but have the Fruilmodel tracks on it, so I can see these being 'recycled' to a new kit in the near future, I do believe. Or at least the tracks can go into the box and sit under the bed gathering dust and cat hair with several other kits that seem to be breeding under that this last year. Ha!
Sure glad Dragon has started to include the tow cable, etc. A nice touch.
Take care, Sgirty

Thanks for the link! I dont see any improvement over the Tamiya King Tiger except maybe for the tracks for those folks who like indy links.I built the Porsche turret KT last year and am building the Henschel turret KT at the moment.
The Dragon kit should be cheaper than the Tamiya kit here in Canada which will be nice.
Thanks for the link

I believe the PE included and the overall price of the kit to be a big improvement over the Tamiya offering. But that's just my two cents.

It should be a nice kit, I might build it and keep the Tamiya kit on the shelf a little while longer..

cant really see it being much better than the tamiya one over here in the UK as most new dragon kits seem to be in the £35 GBP range now you can get the tamiya KT and mesh set for less, and how many people will not use the indi links with the kit and buy fruil ect,
each to there own but look about as dragon did do a set of transport links for the hunting tiger wich will fit the KT great if you have a flat-bed railway truck lying around

Looks nice, but makes me wonder why does a company produce a model of a vehicle that is already produced in high quality model form?
I understood why Tamiya reproduced a new King Tiger, I understand why DML re-tooled thier Firefly Vc and Hummel(was it?).
I even understood why there were two new Walker Bulldogs and two railroad guns produced. Sometimes new projects get started in secrecy around the same time and you end up with two.
I don't understand why Tamiya produced a Pershing, DML's T26E3 and M26A1 were respectable kits. And I don't understand why DML did a King Tiger. I'd have preferred a re-tooled T-72 into a T-90. At least that kit doesn't exist OOB in injection plastic.
Oh well, at least the companies are still producing new kits.

Some interesting comments, Dragon are not producing one King Tiger, but two. One with the Henschel Turret and the other the final version. The world has gone mad..... Jim

OK, I've read the review. I like it, I want it. It's german and it's armor, that's enough reason for me. As soon as I can hop a C-5B or C-17 outta this dust bowl in Iraq, I'm hitting the next hobby shop I can find. Thanks for the heads up on that.
