Chipping on idler wheels was made with combination of sponge and fine brush

More chipping on the idler wheels, also painted the tracks. Contact surfaces on all wheels are buffed with Dark steel pigment. Next will be earth and dust effects...

Somehow missed your progress, sorry for that. Looks great do far! Now it's alltogether still too clean for trench warefare. Any progress on the weathering?
Cheers!

Yes, there's still more weathering to do on the tank, the sandbags etc. There will be a barbed wire also, but when I have time for that little one

Well, almost forgot for this project, so a little progress here
Barbed wire from ... wire, I don't like the commercial photoetch one (too two dimensional for my taste). I think it turned out pretty good and in scale:

To be continued...

Thanks!

Second try with the barbed wire. This time I've made more of the sharp points, then primed with Mr. Metal primer and painted with Gunze Stainless steel. I didn't had steel wire, then you don't have to paint the whole thing. But anyway I like it and now I have barbed wire

Upgrades on the base also:
-corrugated steel supports, made from aluminium foil and painted with Stainless steel;
-wood supports from balsa, also walkway;
-the barbed wire poles are from matchsticks;
Everything will be weathered with oils and pigments. I will add also some grass tufts here and there.

Thanks!

Looks good...I'd paint the sides of the trench base black to help focus it overall.

Proceeding with the trench
The corrugated plate was changed, now I like it more. The barbed wire was put in place and I added some grass tufts. More weathering will follow

Can I use a set of British infantry soldiers for US ones? I suppose the uniforms are same, maybe have to change the helmets only. I will need one or two of them, because the vignette is very small

For example this set:

US uniforms and weapons from 1917 and 1918 were quite different from British uniforms and weapons of 1914, so the answer to your question is no, you should not use that set-- however ICM makes a set of US 1917 troops that come complete with steel helmets, weapons and gas masks (although not pictured on the box top) you'll either need to do some modifications to get the "combat" poses, or combine them with anther set. MiniArt, Tamiya and ICM all make appropriately posed WWI British infantry figures from later in the war which include steel helmets and gas masks which acan be adapted, but again you'd have to do some surgery to get the proper uniform details. I recommend the ICM US infantry set.

Rust on the corrugated steel plate. Almost finished, just a bit more weathering left

Beautiful barbed wire, what gauge of wire you use for it? Excellent piece all together.

Hi, the wire is around 0.3mm thickness, but this is approximate
I'm really gettin' into the WW1 stuff, and today there are many models and figures from the period.

Well, that's for now-some pieces of clothes added, stowage on the rear and rusty chain. When I have the appropriate figure, the diorama will be complete

Thanks for watching!
