To go completly off topic - anyone else that drove these things have trouble catching their pant legs in the axe holder pieces and tearing thier thigh on the gas cap tabs when sliding in and out? I still have scars on the backside of my thighs before I learned to bypass those damn sharp edges.

I remember something catching my knee or shins, but what from I don't remember. We would lay a flak jacket on the seat bottom and often drape one on the seat backs. I don't remember seat belts in anything!

Yeah the gas cap had an "L" shaped metal tab meant to assist in turning the cap; first batch had sharp corners that tore a lot of fatigue pants up, snared M17 mask carriers, etc. There was a "field-fix" in an issue of the PS Magazine that recommended the square corners of the angle be rounded off by support personnel pending the release of a factory-modified cap.

And, yes, darn it, someone has to come up with an accurate M151A1 steering wheel! Just sayin'....

Gino, I was an Army MP back in the late 70s / early 80s. We had Marines go through our Law Enforcement AIT at Ft. McClellan, Alabama. I don't know about Viet Nam but the Marines do have MPs. Check this out:
