The dates are wrong, though (it is Wikipedia, after all). Zimmerit was authorized in September, 1943, though some factories did not receive supplies until October (which is why some early Panther Ausf. A were delivered without the coating).
The order banning its application in the field the following year was pro forma, as few units were doing so anyway.

Indeed. though the prospect of field application has been risen on more than enough occasions to say ..we needto ask some one who was there, at this point here say based discussions bringing tension to the matter make it hard to confirm nor deny authenticity of intel. I was informed of a picture depicting in-field application that i'm currently hunting, not that it will help the matter

Hi
I see nothing in the references quoted about tanks being supplied to the front in primer for the application of zimmerit.

I see nothing that specifically saying this (primer) about Tigers, or that indeed the Zimmerit field applied.

Pending any credible information being produced I'm unconvinced.

That of course should be, "Here endeth the lesson".

A open topic like many things, one cannot prove it did not take place and one cannot show evidence it did.

The modeler will make his choice and a judge or judges should tread lightly when applying personal preference. The marking is about the build of course. Reference material is of course very important.

Each of us here are entitled to our opinion and conclusions.

Happy modeling.

Keith.
