Started another BIG GUN this time I'm doing an American piece.
Donald

I have the bottom part of the lower hull assembled.

The bottoms of the sponsons have a lot of push pin spots to be filled.

Cool--what camo scheme do you plan to use on it?

Have some more finished.

Above, I trimmed the pins on the back of the suspension arms some as they were interfering with the operation of the suspension arms. I also added nuts to the back of the shocks.

working on the hull again.

To make it a little easier, Iglued C65, & B10 to C64 Then used F8 as an installation guide to get the proper placement.

Be careful not to get B6 B7 & B8 mixed up as they are all different heights .
I used the hatches as guides to get the right position for them.

There is a small Photo-Etch screen that goes over the exhaust , the instructions would have you place one of the headlight lenses there.

Going to work on the Gun & Turret next.

It's coming along nicely. Are you going to wrap any wire around the spool on the back door? AFV Club gives you the spool but no commo wire, so it's up to you to wind some wire on it.

Probably not, Any thing would most likely be way out of scale.

Not at all. There are a lot of in-scale options. You can use black thread, fine florist wire, fine monofilament fishing line, fly tying thread, etc., etc...

Look for fine beading wire, really easy to work with.

I have been working on the Gun & Turret.

First problem parts D18 & D19 that hold the spring won't allow part D22 to fit properly.

The cylinders on D22 are bent in.

I trimmed the end of the D18 /D19 assembly.

And the gap is closed.

Next step I added the turret rear panels to the Turret top part.
The instructions would have you install them to the bottom, I thought that I'd get a better fit this way.

First I had to remove the knock out tabs , they are in annoying areas.

The panels fit pretty good.

Installed the Gun on the turret ring.

Had to trim part of the ring to allow for clearance.

Fitted the Turret top and bottom together.

The fit is not very good around the Gun.

Added some parts, WHAT A MESS.

The Turret top is warped.

I have the problem fixed.

First Pic.shows how warped the turret top is.

This time I assembled the Gun without the spring and its holder.

Next I installed the assembled Gun mounts D23 & D24

Now for the Turret.
First I installed D37 to the top in the correct position around the Gun opening.

Then glued D36 to one side lining up with D37.
Then I used Scotch tape to pull the turret sides together until the other side of D36 lined up.

Now for installing the Gun.

The Gun fit perfectly for me.

Top View.

I glued the Gun Mount to the Turret top.

Glued D35 to the bottom of the gun mount instead of the turret bottom.

I cut a bevel on the inside edge to allow for clearance and removed the raised parts where the gun would mount.

I removed the pins on the bottom of D35 they aren't needed.

This is a Pic. of the top of the First turret that I built.

The next two Pics. show a comparison between the two turrets.

While they both look pretty similar the second has a better fit and was a lot easier to do.
If you are planning to build this kit, I would build it the second way.

It wasn't the road wheels that I drilled out, but the idler wheels.
The road wheels have a rubber tire, the idlers are steel.
After filling the joint seam I re drilled the holes that were filled during the seam work. I made them slightly larger, as the holes looked a little under size.
