Here's a few of the figures I've had a go at converting. They are all a work in progress, nothing is finished.

The trio is the tristar waffen as set simply converted to paras by adding a little putty here and there. Not happy with the stud fastening as they are oversized (I used the metal tube from a glue dispenser to press into the a and b.).
The prone/ dead figure is pretty much from scratch using a sculpy armature and a and b putty to add detail. Head, helmet and equipment from the spares box.
The wounded para being helped by the m.p. started life as one of the Dragon paras. Not sure about the m.p. I'll add a hand to hold the para's arm.
The jeep driver is resicast with a new arm waving for attention, the wounded passenger heavily converted from the miniart tank rider set.

Hi Paul,

I like the way you go about conversions!! Who dares, wins, right!!

You are right about the studs, and they look a little punched too! Why not simply make some from stretched sprue!!? Just a thought!

Will watch progress closely! Thanks for sharing so far!!

Cheers

Romain

David- the helmet is part of a hornet head. Primed white and then washed over in green.
Romain-I've tried the stretched sorry method but couldn't get the studs correctly placed. I'm going to order some different sized hypodermic needles and see if they help.
Alan-thanks for the support.
I've another 40 or so paras that are at various degrees of completion. I'll try and get some more photos up later ( I'm always amazed how my work that I think look good in the flesh look awful in photos).

Some impressive work there. Glad you posted. You know I love the subject!!
I know what you mean about the pictures showing things that you may miss in real life on the workbench. That is why I now make it a habit of putting pics of my work on photobucket so that I can see them under magnification. It helps me see the mistakes my poor old antique eyes may miss!!
Keep going and posting brother!

Nice work Paul. Very imaginative conversions. It's inspired me to have a look through my non airborne figures to see what I can come up with for the Market Garden campaign. Really like the jeep crew and the surgical set up. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Casualty with the red hair looks the best to me,even though it's a fuzzy pic. Well done and good conversions.
Maybe settle the e-tool on the dead guys' back a bit? Looks like it's floating? It's one of my pet peaves,"weightless gear".

Jerry - Good call on the e-tool. It's a verlinden item and looks too chunky anyway.
Thanks for the interest guys. More to follow.

No piccies here either, you may have exceeded your band width for photobucket for the month.
I had to sign up for the professional package as they don't give you that much for free. Go figure.

Just a Photobucket heads-up guys:

If you rename your existing libraries and/or move posted images into subfolders, the original image links will be severed. This happened to me a while back. Plan carefully when naming libraries or when using the 'subfolder' feature.

Mario - I cant remember which torso I used for this figure, it does look like it could be verlinden.

Man, oh man I thought I was a Dr. Frankenbuilder when it comes to figures -- I bow before the master. Seriously though, you do some great work, love the conversions with the docs and casualties, a subject near and dear to my heart. I can say that the poses interacting where they seem to be under fire are spot on with how I would have done it in the 1:1 world as a doc.
