Hi there
I just got some KleenEdge low-tack masking tape. The instructions warn against using it on "laquer-based surfaces". It's a U.S. product, so please forgive my ignorance... does "laquer" include enamel paints?
Has anyone used this tape and can you offer any advice on its suitability for models?
All the best

Merlin Laquer is a totally different paint to enamels so It should be OK to use

Hi Mr Roo
That's what I guessed...
I always think of laquer as cellulose based paint but, as they say "two peoples separated by a common language"...
Still, a bit scary to find a warning about incompatibility on masking tape... or is that I've simply never read any instructions before?
Cheers

Hi again
I've just had a chance to use it for the first time - EasyMask seems excellent! :-)
It cuts beautifully and is very flexible - like Tamiya tape, but a fraction of the price. So far it doesn't seem to leave any residue.
It's well worth looking out for at the DIY store.

:-) Rowan this sounds interesting, where did you get it? Is it a paper tape, like Tamiya's or plastic? From what you say this shouldn't be use over the likes of Alclad II, which, I believe is Laquer/Cellulose based.

Hi Mal
This is the stuff.
I got it at a small DIY shop while I was away at Christmas, but I expect all the big DIY stores stock it. It's made in the US.
It's a paper tape like Tamiya - slightly thicker, but still very flexibe. I'll use up my existing stock off Tamiya tape, but I probably won't buy any more, because this stuff is so much cheaper.
All the best

Hi again
Further to my earlier excitent, after being left on for a day or two, it has left a residue!
It should come off okay, but good job I didn't throw the Tamiya tape away!
All the best
