OK the 251 half track campaign gave me an idea ... hows about a campaign on German half track...all sizes .prototypes ..captured..run it for like 6 months .
All scales are allowed but no what ifs ..i have a few which need to be built..this sounds like a good idea in which to get it done
So anyone else think this a good idea ?
Rules are pretty easy going ..all kits must be unstarted or started but only to a small degree .
Start pic with date is a must ..pretty normal now ..build pics are a must because we all love seeing how things are coming along ,,i know i do .
Finished pic put in gallery to win a ribbon .
But as you guys know me ..rules can be slightly bent if need be to help a fellow modeler out

Sal,after checking my Campaign Calendar for next year, I won't start a new Campaign before March / April 2015.

But let's see how this one goes, I'll sort the dates later on.

Cheers,
J.

Since the 251 Half Track Campaign WAS German how about opening it up and having an ALL HALF-TRACK Campaign?

That would be simple and allow ALL countries to participate?

FWIW; I would suggest going one little step further - "The Halftrack - all nations, all eras".

This would capture the earlier inter-war developments, the plethora of German, pre-Blitz French, and Allied WWII 'tracks, those few post-war HT productions and adoptions, such as post-WWII Czech production of former German designs and types, including the sWS and the former SdKfz 251, and the adoption and use of various US types by Israel and later in Viet Nam, and also a few real oddities, such as that brief post-war excursion into producing an RSO-halftrack hybrid. Right along with the initially-suggested German subjects.

I would certainly be interested - I won't even begin to promise I'll get anything done, but I do have several to pick from (and yeah, they ARE all German... )

Hi, guys.
Sounds good to me... I have in my stash a couple of half-tracks begging for attention (both german ). I would prefer a starting date sometime after April 2015. Warm regards.

Ya know Jeff ... i been thinking about it and i am loving the suggestions ,,ok then ,,ALL NATIONS AND ALL ERAS
Very true it would open this right up .
My original idea was German and captured halftracks ,,mainly cause the Germans had so many different types of half track ,,hell the 251 had 23 different versions alone but i am easy going ..so All Nations is what it is now .
John can you please change the title to ... Proposal All Nations,All Eras Haft track campaign .

Cheers

Then I might be in if I can use my T-19 kit that the only "thing started" is that I attempted to cement the aluminum barrel in.

Attempted is the key word here as that last time I saw it I was wondering if it would ever work. I talked it out with someone here at the Big A and they assured me it does assemble with no problems.

So if it's no problem with it I'd like to try again because as you know, those DRAGON kits are a bit expensive.

What-ifs?

I'm thinking a US GMC truck with a M2/3 Halftracks suspension instead of the standard dual axles.

If not, no big deal.

Hi friends,

I've just completed the 251 campaign and I'm still interested in another round with half-track. In case it is decided ''any nation, any era'', from the 2nd half 2015, definitely I'm in !

Cheers

Jeff;

"Haft".... It's an old English (read; "Anglo-saxon") word for the handle or shaft of an ax or such... A haft can be a shaft, as of a spear, too...

I'll suppose a "haft-track" could be some sort of mark left on something by a passing shaft scraping or rubbing by...

I don't know that I've ever seen any sort of kit for that!

I would love to be in with a US half track multi gun carriage, I built one a long time ago and loved it.

Hi,

Just now I've noted this. So, according to the explanation of Bob, my 251 should be not applicable ???

Count me in....
But don't pin me down on a subject yet. Got so many to choose from; 251 with wurfrahmen or maybe an ambulance, a 250/9 Ausf B, backdating an M3A2 to an M3 or go nuts on a Russian M9A1?

I am glad to see the amount of interest in this is really starting to take off .
Alex ... mate you know me well enough by now dont ya ? course What if's are allowed
Now i have a wee dilemma ,,i have my 12 with 88 armoured halftrack to build for this campaign but i also want to build the M15 Special ..M3 with 40 mm Bofors ..so this is now going to do my head in trying to decide which one to build .
I will have to check up i think we got enough blokes here to throw this at John .
Oh ,,this campaign is open to ALL half tracks ,,including haft tracks
