How come the Russians have all the talent, and nothing comparable from the US (or Canada)?
I asked about this years ago and the answer from sculptors was that it's not profitable to produce figure kits anymore.
I know a sculptor who used to (he had his own model figure kit company), and then he moved on to producing resin statues for a theme park company, basically he went from sculpting figure kits to toys. He discovered that producing figure toys (statues, trinkets, action figures, miniatures) was more lucrative than making figure kits.
What's weird is how a lot of the US and Canadian sculptors produce some really weird and funky (and often expensive) figures and busts of monsters, aliens, vintage Sci-Fi, oddballs, and half-naked warrior-women. I guess people buy them...but they sure are to a selective taste.
