Thanks for the comments, Raphael.
In answer to your question, I used Model Master's enamel #2060 - RAF Dark Green - as the base color. I then overshot that with 3 more progressively lightened (white added) layers to get the tonal differences.

Great work, Bob. Really like the different tones of dirt color. Very realistic.
Cheers

Very, very nice, Bob!
I have to agree with the others about the weathering. It really has that grubby, wallowing in the dirt look that's characteristic of the Churchill.
Well done...
Is this one destined for a patron, or will you put one on your own display shelf for a change?

Mark,
Stefan, and
Alan - Thanks for the comments. Glad you like the work.
Mike - Appreciate it, Mike, though it is a rather paltry effort when compared to yours!

Like most everything else I've built in the past year, it's going to a new home. TBH, I don't even have a display shelf here. I do have a small cabinet where the "failures" (those that haven't sold) are stored.

Hi Bob,
What a beautiful Churchill, I really like the muddy appearance and light and darker tones of the weathering.
They way this AVRE looks, it easy to imagine that your AVRE was negotiating the wed meadows around Overloon during the Battle of Overloon.

Very, very nice. Love the look.
I am extremely ignorant of this type, so forgive me when I ask, what purpose do the suspension bogies serve mounted on the engine deck?

Thanks for the comment Ian. They suspension units served the same purpose as the spare roadwheels carried on other tanks. My guess is that the way the system was designed, it was easier to replace the whole unit than just the wheels. From what I've seen, after jacking the tank up, it only took undoing 7 bolts to remove the entire unit.
Of course, my ignorance of the system is probably close to yours, so that's just a guess. Maybe someone a lot more familiar with British armor will chime in here.
