Alexander Zelenkov from Stalingrad shares with us the work in progress on the new 1/35 scale figures planned as future releases from the company... these are all extremely evocative pieces showing WW2 refugees.

What a terrific WIP! In my eyes, Stalingrad offer the most exciting figurines at the moment. The subjects, the poses, the sculpting - all top notch. If only I could do them justice when it comes to painting...

Everything he does just gets better and better!! All of the details are done to perfection down to the sunken cheeks of the people due to war-time rationing of food.
I am trying right now to buy a set of the eastern front refugee figs. Hard to find.
The only tiny suggestion from me is maybe the womens' faces/noses look a bit too similar?
Spectacular stuff here.

I particularly like the aristocratic-looking woman with the little dog, trying her best to maintain what dignity (notice the earrings) she has left amid the descending chaos...fantastic work!

These look fantastic! I hope Stalingrad figures become more readily available in the US ... even if I can't paint for beans!

Alixander, just beautiful work. I will take a set as soon as possabile. The only other walking refugees I have seen are from Prisser, if I spelled them right, but at 1/32nd scale they seem still very large. I do hope that the lady in the back gets a coat or something so she fits in with the others. These could be used for any area during this time period. The baby carrage is just a little jewel added to the group. Excellent!!!

Mix them with their marching POW set for a real bit of history.

Hi Bob,

The Preiser refugees are 1/35 scale. I have used a few in a Miniart cart years ago as refugees from East Prussia. But compared to this beautiful set they are way out!

Bill-
Brilliant link and a remarkable piece of film-and in colour! The state of the POWs (dishevelled, wounded and some marching barefoot),the mix of clothing, some brilliant shots of armour both Allied and German and the contrast between the DPs and the watching crowd.......I'll be exploring the film archives for a while!

Now just throw in Bravo 6's new U.S. cameraman alongside Stalingrad's German POWs and European refugees, add some armour.....epic diorama in progress!
