I am going to begin building my Dragon Wirbelwind with zimmerit soon and I want to replace the barrels. I'm considering RB Models for the barrels, but I'm not quite sure which 2cm Flak barrel to purchase as they have two (a 2cm Flak 38 L/50 and then a L/65)?
They also have an awesome 3.7cm Flak 43 L/60 that I am going to put on my Dragon ostwind.

The L/50 is for the vehicle mounted 20mm KwK 30 L/50 cannon as used on the Sd.Kfz.222 Armoured Car Early, Sd.Kfz.232 6 Rad, Sd.Kfz.232 8 Rad Early and Pz.Kpfw II Ausf A to F.

You need the L/65

You need Lion Mark set. They are the best.

Here is a comparison of most of the flak 38 barrels.

The LionMark set is pretty nice - good-looking barrels with the fine-grain knurling for the 2 grips used for the change-out. And I think the set may come fairly reasonable.

The RB barrels are super nice, but you'll end up paying more to buy 4 separate barrels then the above kit. I think there is also a Griffon Model set-of-4 - also a nicely-done set, IMO.

I've used RB barrels on most of my several single-mount FlaK 38 and for KwK 30 and KwK 38 vehicle guns, and that LionMark set on a Wirbel build. I'm a satisfied customer all the way 'round with these items!

I would also take a look at the Master offerings that have just been released. There are reviews on Armorama of the 3 barrels Master have released in the 20mm range.

Chris ... there is one way to get nice replacement barrels and end up with a nice pile of spare goodies too.
AFV Club have the 2cm Flakvierling (kit no AF35S61 ) .. it comes with metal gun barrels and the kit is pretty cheap too, it should work out cheaper than having to buy a set of four guns or buying four single barrels and evilbay should be able to help ya out .
Luckymodel have it on backorder but it will give you all the info you need .

AFV club barrels are not recommended. Go for Lionmark, or Alliance Model Works.

Quoted Text

The barrel changing hand grips have been represented as raised sections with very little texturing but these in fact should be flush with the rest of the barrel tube with just the texturing apparent. Being metal this is very difficult to correct which sort of negates the advantage of the metal barrels in the first place apart from the flash suppressors and you really need to replace these with other after market barrels that have the hand grips correctly depicted for truly accurate barrels.
