Thanks Frenchy, there were a few I did not have.
Both the Pull Tractor and the Pusher had generators to contribute to powering the active drive on the missile trailer. The Russians have used this methodology for many years but this rig might be the appogie of their efforts. Later designs went back to using just a Pull Tractor with generator. However it was a much larger tractor!

It had crossed my mind that perhaps one could find a nice die cast crane in 32nd scale to use to build this monster?

Here is what the Russians are using these days to transport their largest land based ICBMs. Same trailer but with a much larger tractor. (The same vehicle they use to mount the Topol mobile missile launcher.)

http://tcfs.ru/index.php/topic/919-ks-6571a/Judging by the pics, it looks like the crane turret rear overhang may be longer on this variant. That would explain the longer overall lenght... :

Here's a KS-5571 used to move a SS-12 Scaleboard missile in its insulated transport container :
Here's a similar scene with a 9T35 crane on a MAZ-537K chassis :

On a side note, the SS-12 Scaleboard 9P120 launcher was based on the MAZ-543. The missile had an environmental protective cover that split down the middle and was only opened when the missile was ready to fire:

Shall we now have a vote for most desired MAZ 543 for manufactures to model now that the Scud has arrived?
My vote!
Or Maybe . . . .

Wow. You dug pretty deep to find THAT old shelf Queen. Well well, I suppose I should finish her up now that someone spotted her.

I like very much that you were thinking outside the box on this one. I am doing the AA-60 fire truck right now and am considering following in your footsteps with this civilian freight hauler!
