As Terry Ashley has already said on PMMS alot of the errors Trumpeter made on their original C2 have been corrected. I pulled out my older kit and did some comparisons. The front fender line has been moved forward as have the two rearmost fuel filler caps. The forward engine deck grills have been lengthened as well. One thing I don't think Terry mentioned is that the final drive housing has been corrected also. I did a quick dry fit of the main turret parts and the fit is worlds better than on my original C2. As for the add-on armor it is very nicely done. I have the Accurate Armour Op Telic update set which I will probably use, but I'm sure I'll be using the Trump skirts down the road. I'm already itching to get into this kit but I promised myself I would finish the project I'm working on now.(which I'm planning to definitely do this weekend ) If anyone has any questions about the kit let me know.

Are the wheels any better than the first one? From what I've read, they were pretty much unusable.

Howdy Kelly,
Thx for the update regarding the Chally 2 kit. I guess Trumpeter is trying pretty hard to get it all 'right'. Good on them!
I also echo 'Tony-Frey's question about the wheels, that was the original reason I put the plastic back in the box (when I bought the first Chally 2 kit), are they corrected?
Also, a 'big' question to me is; how many parts are on the sprue that upgrades the regular Chally 2, to the Op Telic version? In other words, I'm just trying to make a comparison between the (expensive) Accurate Armour conversion kit (with quite a few parts), to the new Trumpeter 'updated' Chally 2 kit that includes the additional 'Chobham applique armour and TEC exhaust upgrades. The AA kit is a nice bunch of coconuts at a fairly nice bunch of dollars U.S., so how does the new version compare?

Hi guys,
Just a quick post to answer a few questions.
Tony & Tread, yes the wheels were another one of the parts that were corrected, they look good comparing them to the original offering.
Wanze, now that I have a digital camera I could, but instead I'll be lazy and post a link to the PMMS review by Terry Ashley where he has posted pics of the sprues.
http://pmms.webace.com.au/reviews/vehicles/trumpeter/tr00323-45.htm
Tread, there are 46. The nice thing about the AA update set is it doesn't just include the armor package. It also includes many parts to correct or enhance the detail on the front and rear hull, the turret, and a resin gun barrel. (can you say no seam to clean up :-) )
Cheers guys,
Mike

I noticed on other boards that Trump has continuosly taken efforts to correct their shortcomings.
Doncha just wish that the Bigger T would make some effort to fix some of their stuff?
Their Matilda, Lee, Grant, M41, Panther A, etc, etc. For what they charge for their special plastic, I can only wish Trump continues to trump them at 1/35th armor.

Kelley
thanks for the info on the chally 2 op telic kit.I already have one of the originals built and one of each (op telic and kosovo) on order. The one thing that interests me is that have trumpeter sorted out the placing of the main gun? When I built the first one putting the gun where it was supposed to be i was left with a 5mm gap between the top of the gun and the turret and had to move the gun backwards around 5mm to make it (a) fit and (b) look anywhere near correct.
regards
Pete

I've already got one ordered....and yes, Tamiya-San had better watch his back, not just in the states but here in europe as well. After New Year we spent a few days in a city in the ventre of Spain (the fact that it has several model-shops was accidental ) However, the store had a special on Trumpeter (thanks to the distributor) I picked up the AS90 for €11.90 (around $16) meanwhile, the same store had Tammy's new M3a2 for the (normal) price of €62.50 . Thanks to this competitive pricing, I left an order for the revamped Chally 2, in fact with these prices I might just get both! Simple equation, if I want Tammy, Dragon or AFV Club, I buy from Japan/HK, Trumpeter I will buy here.......Jim

Pete,
I did a quick dry fit of the mantlet to the turret this evening and there was about a 1-2 mm gap between them. If it stays that way once I start gluing things I think it can be fixed by possibly scratching a little bit bigger canvas(??) cover that fits between the turret and mantlet. I'll try to post again once I start work on the kit.
