There are just so freakin' many figures out there - resin and plastic - that sorting through the available options is one of the hardest things for me putting together a new project.
I'm looking for, ideally a set of, WWII British infantry types who're cooking on the issue small gas stove. If I can't find a set of related figures, I'll do a mix-and-match with various individual figures to build the scene.
Resin would be preferable, but I'd be happy to find figures in the correct poses in plastic. Wearing webbing in the fighting configuration would be good, too.
So, I'd welcome any suggestions or ideas. I've been looking, but so far, no joy.
TIA and Happy New Year!

Aside from Hornet's BH-08 (OOP) and which I've already used:
And Hornet's BH-18 "Montgomery," do you have any specific suggestions?
I'm planning a small NWE vignette (Summer '44) with a couple or three of infantry types brewing up. Hornet's BH-08 could work, but, as I've already used him, he's "out of the pool" for the moment. (Not to mention that he's also "out of production.")

What about the old Esci set? I remember Verlinden using them in a few dioramas back in the day. Maybe some new Hornet heads and hands.

Yea, unfortunately, you've got Germans "at rest" and Soviets "at rest," but nothing similar that I can find for Allied troops - US or Commonwealth.
The tank crewmen in Pixie suits are nice, but not close to what I have in mind.
I hate the thought that so much conversion work would be necessary for such a simple scene. There are darned few Commonwealth infantry figures to work with, too.
This is a figure subject ripe for exploitation by Miniart or Master Box...

Probably be easier to do it with paras. Only thing I can think of is the Miniart British Tank riders (NW Europe)
The ancient ESCI guys sadly are out of scale and poorly proportioned and lack all webbing. Better off using the re-issued Airfix multi-pose Brits and ignore the scale difference by using all 1/32 accessories.

Ah! I had totally forgotten about those guys (and I've used a number of them in the past).
(One of the last figures I painted using only hobby enamels. New Hornet head and hands with some work on the uniform.)
ESCI's "British Camp Rest Area" might be able to provide a couple of the figures I want if I can track a set down. One or two guys wearing the leather jerkin would fit an early summer morning scene. Unfortunately, I think it's been OOP for a good long time, now.
Thanks for the memory jog, Jimmy!

Unfortunately, the figures are just one part of the planned vignette, and the main subject and circumstances just won't work with paras (the smocks, you know...).
The re-released multipose figgies might work but for the other elements in the overall composition.
Thanks for the suggestions, though. With a different idea for the overall composition, they might have worked well.

Hi Mike,
Have a look at the Sovereign 2000 range. There are some there that might well fit you needs. Some are shown as tankers but are in shirt sleeve order so switching the head is no problem.
S2KW016 - British tanker rolling sleeve
S2KW027 - British tanker (N.W. Europe) reading
S2KW030 - British soldier smoking
S2KF006 - British BREN gunner No 1
S2KF007 - British BREN gunner No 2
S2KF008 - British tommy digging in
S2KF010 - British tommy kneeling
S2KW002 - British tanker (N.W. Europe) smoking
S2KW002 - British tanker (N.W. Europe) with fuel can
There are possibly a few others as well. Link to Historex site
http://www.historexagents.com/shop/hxsearchresults.php?SupplierCode=SK&GrpKey=&DscKey=&SearchData=&ComingSoon=&PageNo=2
Ultracast have some tankers in shirt sleeves who might also work. Shouldn't be too much work to convert the tankers.
Cheers
Al

Mike not exactly what you are looking for, but the poses in the image below may solve some of your issues, and they are great figures to start with detail wise.

@ Alan and Darren: Thanks guys!
Al, I hadn't looked at the Sovereign 2000 figures yet, so I'll be perusing those for sure.
@ Alan - PS: Some excellent choices there! I can feel the wheels turning...
Darren, you're on the same track as me with the conversion opportunities. I'm keeping my fingers crossed in hopes of finding stock figures that will fit the scene I have in mind; I really don't enjoy doing figure conversions.
However, it's looking more and more like that's the route I'll have to take.
Hopefully, I'll find some poses that are at least close.
Cheers,

LOL! Yea, I guess I'll have to do my Heer Doktor Frankensteen impersonation once again...
(Have I mentioned that I really don't like figure conversion work?)
Now... Where's Igor gotten off to when I need him?

The ancient Esci set has been reissued occasionally by Italeri. They're a weird bunch of apparently Scottish troops. They were originally planned to be a Bofors gun crew, but the gun kit was canceled, and they were re-purposed as guys eating and drinking. Esci's figures looked more like short 1/32nd scale people than true 1/35th scale, and you probably needn't bother with them unless you're desperate.

Hi Mike, they should give you a good mix of dress/undress and the kneeling guy will work for the cooking element. They are pretty good figures some originally were GNR that I think Sovereign bough. Check Resicast they have a set of Dixies that I think may include mess tins and stoves but I can't remember for sure. Graham will probably personalise an order for you if needs be.
Cheers

Hi Mike,
Have a look at the MiniArt tank riders, there are a couple sitting on the ground that could work for you.

At least one place to 'see' what Ultracast has to offer is theBarrelStore. No affiliation, just a place that happens to upload some decent photos of what they offer.

Hi there
AC Models from New Zealand used to do a very nice 1/35th Kiwi Sherman crew brewing up. Three figures complete with gas stove. A search of the net could not find much info. Maybe contact AC Models direct http://www.acmodels.co.nz/contact/
Cheers
