I'm a Rust-oleum man myself but that khaki color should work.
Since it's a 'What-If', what about that desert pink that the Land Rovers were painted and the Abrams trial scheme?
I agree, very cool build project

Cool build, by the way. And actually feasible.
Thanks, that was my goal. The first (and only) time I saw the pic that got me fired up, my thoughts ran along the lines of: "neat looking", and "that could actually happen"

Thanks! I actually prefer Krylon, but the Ace guy swears it's the same stuff....
I've thought about a "digital" scheme, the two-tone scheme tried on Merk4's, and going for as close as I can get to "actual".
But.
I have been whanged for my IDF colors being "too sandy" or "too green" or too "whatever", so in my own way, I'm flying without the flock here and very seriously considering using the primer gray as the actual base color, and not totally without some logical thinking, that being since this thing is intended to be used urban and LIC type settings, it might just as well be painted in a color that would blend in better than the normal IDF sand-gray. Granted, this primer is too dark, but I haven't even begun to weather....
So while I was pondering all this, I painted the side skirts.
Gotta go to work, but I'll be back.

Well, nothing quite so elaborate as the above pic, but I did decide to stay with the gray, and go from there. I did however want to make it look like a hasty respray, so I took some Humbrol buff (#20) and painted the belly armor, backsides of the road wheels, and nooks and crannies up top. I then used a black area wash, followed by a pin wash to bring up the bolt heads and such.
Tracks are mounted to check for fit, removed and primer after pics were taken.
Next will be a gloss coat, decals, detail painting, then flat and pigments.
Pics so far:
Thanks for looking!

Well, with the traveling we've been doing, and then a bout with the flu, not much happening with the ugliest tank I've ever built, but I have managed to get a gloss coat on and start the decals.....
I'm using generic IDF "digital" numbers from Echelon, and left-overs from a Merk1 sheet I bought recently. Very nice decals, but placing the three digit numbers on the side skirts is going to be fun....

So I got into the pigments last night, got the tracks finished and on, and started detail painting.
Quite a change in color. In actuality, there's a distinct difference in color over the tank, due to heavier pigment application around the running gear and where the tracks would throw up dust and dirt, but it doesn't show in the pics very well at all.
I forgot to get a pic of the dirtied-up side skirts, but I'm very pleased with how they came out, lots of caked-on grime and some "cleaner" areas, very visible color differentiation.

I wanted some tow cables that look like the modern IDF stuff, but "different", so I dug through the spares and parts kits until I found some Tamiya T34 cables. After lots of cleanup and filling of sink holes, I had eight ends. I then drilled the ID of some aluminum tube until I could get some nylon string from a Legends Magach 6B Gal conversion in one end and attached the other end to the Tamiya ends, getting this:
I also scrounged up an Academy FN Mag, probably from a Magach kit I parted out a while ago.
Looking at this thing with the RWS mounted, I think I should have used it in place of the main gun- mounted M2 HMG instead of on the commander's cupola.
Oh well, live and learn.

Very very cool, and also a very likely IDF vehicle. I keep playing around with doing an IDF chiften I just have never done it.

Thanks. I don't know if I mentioned it in the beginning of my thread here, but I saw a CG pic of something like this a couple of years ago and thought exactly that: "This could work". I've looked for the pic lately but can't find it.
I'm really close to doing an IDF Pershing or Japanese Type 90 myself.....
