Any reason why it has a 17 pounder?

Hmmm...An M4A1 large hatch Firefly (as per the 17 lb'er gun) in a T23 turret? Were many of these built?

Thanks for posting your pictures. Something you should consider when mounting sandbags to the front of a tank is whether it obstructs the vision of the driver and co-driver's periscopes. If possible, perhaps remove the top layer? Just a suggestion.
The other two posters are wondering why the 76mm gun has the muzzle brake of the British 17 pdr as used in the Fireflies.

Nice work, nice weathering.
2 minor points:
the vertical seams below the .50cal MG carrier on the rear of the turret shouldn't be there, as the angle-iron was welded on afterwards.
The Sherman had 'live tracks' & should be taut, your track appears to 'float' above the track rails.
A good start Julien

If you enjoyed the build and are happy, with it, you did it right. I try to be a rivet counter. But, it detracts from my enjoyment. I will point out something I and others often overlook. The large parts on the ends of the prybar are brackets and should be the same color as the tank. The color modulation is quite well done. The sand bags look great! Build on!

The US did have a 17pdr equipped Sherman to play with but it was based on an M4A3E8 - bottom of page here - http://www.plasticarmour.com/philipp_gross.html

Steve Zaloga did an article on 17pdrs added to M4s and M4A3s in the UK. Of the 81 vehicles, only 7 have registration nos. consistent with the Fisher Tank Arsenal production of M4A375W HVSS. The rest were M4, M4 Hybrids, M4A3 75D and M4A3 75W tanks.
They were modified between 3/26/45 to 5/10/45, none being issued to a combat unit. Phillip Gross' model is great -- although my reference could give him an exact veh registration number for his Firefly M4A3HVSS!

"give the guy a break" Hmmmm... he seems thankful for peoples' suggestion on how to improve. No one was being nasty. All of us are free to choose or ignore nitpicks pointed out by others.
I'd think all readers of this thread have learned something that will benefit them, even minutely, in future builds -- the OP certainly acknowledges this.

You're right Roy, I did learn some things from this discussion - good point.
Also I want to say I think the weathering is well done. It is low key, minimal and realistic looking, it's not another "painted lady" Sherman.

Tank looks real good... Really like the sandbag layout and colors

The finish is pretty good, but there are a couple of things you might want to modify:
- the vision ports in the commander's cupola appear to have been painted over. You might want to paint them gloss black.
- The metallic portions of the tools (at least) would be olive drab with the actual working surfaces burnished steel.
- The box-like sections at either end of the long pry bar are the brackets holding it to the vehicle and would be OD.
- the mud effect on the sides is nicely executed, but with all the mud on the lower hull, you might want to spatter it a bit up the sides and real to really indicate the environment it's in.
Just a couple of constructive criticisms, I hope you don't mind.
