I can't really see from the photos, but is it possible the two figures not wearing puttees are wearing waders? These are frequently seen in pictures of trench dwellers from mid-war on. The trousers look too full to be merely soldiers not wearing puttees, as without them, the trousers should be still tight to the calves a bit like riding breeches. These figures have the look of soldiers returning behind the lines after a prolonged stint in the trenches, and this would make more sense?

Hi Steve,

That was my original thought looking at the box art but they sit on top of ammo boots with laces and lack the straps around the knee area and upper foot although with a little work they could be altered.

Cheers

Hi folks,

A few build pictures. I gave two of the troops trench waders and altered the pointing arm of the officer. I also switched out two of the helmets for a bit more variety and added the missing water bottles and buckles. No mud yet, but they make for some useful troops.

I used the kit heads so you could add extra variety by changing a few.

With some mudd added,

for the altered officer I added a small haversack and some binos.

So there you have it, not a bad set at all with scope for your own innovations.
