Looks like Trumpeter is hinting at a series of MAZ trucks with a post on Facebook. Should be interesting to see what is coming.

Yes, BM-30. Another fighter from Ukrainian battle fields.
Do you have any idea about possible use of this monster in Afghanistan?

AFAIK the Soviet Army rather used the older BM-27 Uragan there...

They are stating this will be a series, so who knows what all versions they will release.

Well, this seals it as a Smerch, right? At least for the initial variant if it's a series.

I am always saying that the model manufactures often fail to take full advantage of the molds they already have in stock to make more variants available of a given model.

Trumpeter seems to be proving me wrong, at least in this case.

p.s. The Smerch would not have been my first choice as the second offering in this series but the possibilities for MAZ-543 variants is now nearly endless.

.

Is this not what Dragon is doing with their Pz.III, StuG.III, Pz.IV, etc. molds. Every variant possible, including planned and unbuilt, and even some that may have been just discuss over a beer by two German factory workers.

I have to admit I was intentionally not including in my comments the model industry's penchant for trying to offer EVERY variant of every WWII German tank, real or only dreamed of, ad infinitum.

How many Pz. III, IV and Panther chassis can you build before you get tired of it?

(Oh I bet that statement will spark some comments! Shame on me.)

I would have gone for one of these:

Or this baby!

Or even this one:

p.s. But perhaps all in good time. I suspect the Smerch model required the least amount of research, re-engineering and new tooling to accomplish the project and get it out of the gate and on its' way to market.
