Hey folks, I'm thinking of picking up a dml scud kit and using the missile as a Pershing (reshaping the warhead a bit - close enough

).
I'd like to find some ideas of what to do with the 543. I ran across this:
http://kr.blog.yahoo.com/shinecommerce/MYBLOG/show_image_v2.html?mid=33190682&no=15947552Is that some sort of temporary shelter or something? What's that called so I can maybe find some more pics. Or, any ideas of an interesting build for this guy.
Thanks,
Johhn

You could try building a Smerch:

It's either that guy or a civilian logging truck. I saw one that someone made up in photoshop. I suppose they actually exist since I've seen pics of them in other civilian roles.
Thanks guys,

I'd love to see someone attempt an 5P85SE S-300 TEL in 1/35 using the Scud TEL chassis as a basis.

From what I recall DML Maz-543 was a very lacking kit, it has virtually no underbody components (it's actually a big gaping hole) and no frame to speak of. It was made of 4 compartments glued together with no common base.
So converting that particular kit could pose a signficant challenge.

You could get a Maz 537 kit from Trumpeter and use the drive train for your kit, the only thing you will have to come up with is an engine. I have been toying with the idea of a Maz 543 tractor and useing the trailer from the 537 kit

You should build an A-222 Bereg! That is one bad-ass gun!
here is a video showing it:

Here are a few photos of my AA-60 Airport Fire Truck conversion of the Scud Missile Carrier (MAZ-543)
As to the comment about using the MAZ-537 kit to provide running gear for this kit; be careful b/c the 537 kit, while being better, is still missing almost 50% of what needs to be in there.

I think these airport fire tender /foam crash trucks were purpose built rather than conversions of old missile carriers

I have that kit too and I just want a freakin' engine for it!
But, the Smerch is interesting to say the least and has me thinking.
Maybe a pumpkin launcher, huh?

Jeff .. I just had an idea about your engine needs .. Trumpeter do these Chinese tanks like this one .
http://www.luckymodel.com/scale.aspx?item_no=TP00306They come with a engine which is pretty well detailed and once its in the kit you can't even see it so leaving it out aint a problem and i am pretty sure its based on the old Russian V12 tank engines which are used in these trucks which are the 38.9 liter D12A-525 diesel engine .
Which looks like this

I think this is your best bet at getting your engine buddy

I have spoken before about the stuff (besides the engine) that has been left out of the MAZ-537 kit.
Check out this drawing of the actual MAZ driveline:
