boy..that MAZ tractor looks amazing !! looks like a kitbash of the 537G truck parts and the SCUD cabin and rear compartment could yield a convincing model?

wonder of my LHS still has the "last" MAZ on clearance...

That's my plan but with an improved semi-scratch built driveline!

One remark about the Grumble kit from W-Models: That whole spare tire area looks awfully empty and bare. I would at least have to build the pipe framework such as appears in photos on page 6 of this thread. I would probably go for the cloth covered enclosure over this pipe frame and throw in what looks like a heater/air conditioner mounted above the engine area next to the driver's cab.

Rubezh anti-ship missile system (Cont.):

If any item in the Russian Arsenal is going to start WWIII is will probably be this Mach 2+ missile. Russia has been selling them like hot cakes to all buyers everywhere, and they are hailed as a "Carrier Killer". The Chineese are doing the same thing. Fired in batteries of 4 they are almost unstopable. Our Phylanx might get one or even two incoming fast moving targets but fired in groups of four one is bound to get through.

With all the hotheaded countries in this world it is only a matter of time till a major US ship goes down!

I apologize for getting somewhat political above. This looks to be a fantastic weapons system and it would be great to model this vehicle. (I just wish the Russians and the Chineese would keep them to themselves and within their own borders - with all the current island ownership disputes going on it is just too tempting to use an "unstopable" missile!)

The new Russian and Chinese Hyper-sonic missile systems are the primary reasons the US Navy is transitioning to a new littoral (close to shore) class of warships. These are highly functional, multi-purpose, stealthy, low crew count, ships designed to operate close to shore. This will allow the fleet to stand further off giving more reaction time to defend against this new high speed missile threat.

We seem to be wandering off from the thread topic. I love seapower too, but it should be taken over to the Model Shipwrights section...

Started looking over my long shelved MAZ civilian transport truck build. Might be time to finally put the nail in that coffin...

Yeah, I'm done with the seapower images for the time being. However there is a direct connection between the creation of these ships and the existance of the Rubezh anti-ship missile system.

Some visable under cab detail sadly missing from the old Scud kit but easily added back:
