I am not sure I understand your second point. The private mail system IS suppose to be the solution to sending messages without having to disclose your undisclosed private email address. Maybe if you clarify what you mean I can answer that better. And the idea about a save offline button would be great. At the moment though I have no ideas on how I could code that. Sorry.

I guess what I was trying to say was that instead of reading and storing PMs on the site, is there a way to just forward them to the recipient with a return address to the site. which would in turn send it to the proper party. I know this is convoluted ,I just don't get the privacy issue, we're all here to dicuss our hobby. If folks want to talk private let them give each other there addresses and leave the sites assets for other goodies. I guess what I'm saying is , do we really need this?

Sorry I didn't see this until Dman resurrected this thread. I'm afraid the Private Messaging system is to tied into all the core modules to not have it active. That said personally I would be fine with using regular mail as I already get so much of it now that a few more wouldn't hurt. But I think that because this site requires users to sign-up and divulge a working email to post, that the PM system is just one way they can keep their email private yet still be able to interact with other users. At least this was the design philosophy behind it. Keep in mind on many sites you can just use any email and post a message. Even a fake one. I think the way this site works is one of the chief reasons we don't get the nasty flames or general user in-fighting.

I have a question about private msgs Jim. Do the recipient receives the msg once he/she is online or only when logged into this site?? Have always been curious about this.........
