Nearly finished.
All R/C and electrics now fitted and top and lightening coats applied. Giving it 3 days for the final satin varnish coat to harden.
Just needs to be washed, weathered and the fixtures, e.g. tarps, steel helmets, etc. to be finished and put on.
Still a big problem uploading photos with AOL in the UK so I will kindly ask Jim to be his usual helpful self and put them in for me.
Jim has put them in My Gallery.
Trackpins.

Can't wait to see that baby! What are the tracks made of? Are they individual links or one piece rubber ones?

Metal individual links each joined with a scale trackpin. Weighs around 128 lbs! 47 amps of power at 12 volts.
Working tracks, turret traverse, main firing gun (8 mm blank) that elevates and depresses.
Also scale proportional T34 engine sound with exhaust smoke, working head and tail lights, smoke generators and taped Russian music.
Nearly forgot, also a radio transmitting 3.2 mm colour camera with sound that views through the gunner's sight hole.

guys the reason you lost some posts was that the rules ofRR state quite clearly that simple congatulatory remarks are not allowed. Your original posts were deleted by myself and in future all such remarks will be deleted as well.

Trackpins, what is this thing made from? I mean the turret and the hull. I can see brass and other bits of metals. From a lack of knowledge of the T34, what is the plug looking thing with a chain holding it on the left side of the turret? How much does she weigh?
Another dumb question, where did you get figures that big?!
Ohh, and more pics would be greatly appreciated.
The following is off topic. Apologizes to Trackpins
Okay, I can understand that very well. But, if this is the case, than a simple press of the poster's "PM" button would fix that, would it not? Rather than skirting this forum's posting rules, sending a private message to the poster, would fix it. eh?!

personally think it would be very arrogant to criticize this piece of craftsmanship simply for the fact that few, if any of us, have the skill to do such a superb job such as this.

Okay Ken one question if you can not find nothing wrong with a model that is posted here especially this fine piece of workmnanship then their would be no replies to POST CORRECT as their is nothing wrong to say!!!
HMMM,got to explain that a little better to me!
I agree with Witchking, But as you are SENIOR MODERATOR .
Will take what you say as the Truth
Rather do this out in the open then thru A PM!!
Don't we all strive for a Pat on the Back when their is a job well done?
I think that most do,Awards, medals all the same if we don't show praise for a Great job then all our work is for nothing!!!
OFF THE BOX NOW!

Jeff,
Truth?? It's printed in BIG BOLD PRINT up above. And it's been posted about a zillion times in this forum. But here it is again for the hard of hearing or of reading.
POST NON-CRITICAL REMARKS THAT ARE SIMPLY TO SAY "GOOD JOB" IN THIS FORUM AND THEY WILL BE R - E - M - O - V - E - D ! PERIOD. END OF STATEMENT.
If anyone has anything further to say on this matter please be advised I have had a crappy weekend and my patience is at a low point.
Furthermore WitchKing (aka Cat, aka Wildcat, aka I forget how many other names) has in essense been nothing but a trouble-maker since his arrival here. His behaviour continues to set new lows and I have about had it with him. In fact I have had it.
Cliff (Roo) is trying to do his job on this site as ***** I ***** have laid it out to him. IF ANYONE HAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS THEN YOU COME SAY IT TO ME.
Now I have to actually do some work.
Jim

TrackPins,
What color/brand of paint did you use on this T-34? Was it straight from the bottle or darkened/lightened at all?

I am really dismayed that my desire to share my hobby and expand (in model size) on the usual superb work displayed in this site has caused such a outcry!
I post my photos not to hear/read the praise ringing in my ears or for self gratification, I post to exhibit MY WORK and hope it in its small way may be of help or even give ideas or purpose to others, we all have to learn.
I would with consideration to all say that it is not our site, we don't own it but by visiting we have contributed to what Armorama has become. It is a mutual process and maybe we also all need sometimes to remember that.
When all is said and done it's a hobby. It's not like walking down the back streets of Basra or Baghdad with a weapon under your arm!
On that note to hopefully answer a few questions.
It started life as a Russian import that I bought very cheaply from the original buyer who just could not get it right. Having said that it is 95% rebuilt from scratch. The reason being the original was in my opinion truly appauling, fairly typical of what I have seen of these! The wheels, turret and tracks are all new. The tracks being cast from bronze now.
It is mainly in fibre glass with carbon fibre reinforcement and most metals including steel, brass, bronze, etc. being used.
The object on the chain is the handle for the flushing toilet. The T34-85 had the first of these fitted, the T34-76 only having a bucket! It was located just behind the driver's seat.
JOKE!
It is in fact the retaining chain for the conical steel pistol port that you can see on the end of the chain. It enables the port to be closed after use without leaving the 'safety' of the turret.
The slogan says 'For Stalin'.
The figure is a Dragon nude figure coated in a very fine pottery moulding/repair putty and carved/sanded to scale. The driver is the same figure painted to look different. It will have a full size figure at the front of the tank talking to the driver when completed. I cast the figures in fibre glass resin from silicon moulds I have made.
I will try and upload some more photos including a video clip of it moving/firing etc. if possible and OK by Jim when it's fully finished
I think that's all other than take it easy guys, it's a good site and a good hobby, lets not spoil it.

Paint colour.
It is made from 3 Tamiya base colours.
XF 58 Olive Green, XF2 Flat white and XF3 Flat Yellow.
The ratios are XF 58 x 5, XF 2 x 1, XF 3 x .5. Or if you prefer 10:2:1.
To highlight an overspray of the base colour with a 10%each of XF2 Flat white and XF3 Flat Yellow added.
A matter of personal preference as I always overspray a satin varnish but if this is to be the top coat I would substitute the Flat White for Gloss to give a satin sheen and the same with the lightening coat.
Not my formula. Found it on the web. An excellent match for the original WW2 Russian Green that I have seen.
Hope this helps.

What is the pupose of the yellow in this paint mix? Does it make the olive look more of a pea green color? I understand the white lightens the green...but I'm scratching my head on this one I am curious because I would like to use that color on a T-34 I have, as well as expand my knowledge of paint mixtures

Sorry, I don't have any real idea other than it must/does produce a warmer shade than the original colour. I only now use this in preference to the purported Soviet Greens by other manufacurers!
It's a little difficult to guage correctly in 1:35, in my 1:8 and 1:6 I put it in by the bucket load. If you need only small amounts try using a glass eye dropper on the 10:2:1 ratios.
Hope of use.
